Cutest Twins Ever Pictoral Update

That's right. You guessed it. Some more pics of the cutest twins in the Universe.

Mason, pissed at me that I'm taking her picture first thing. But I wanted to capture how she undresses herself in the morning.

Mason and Aunt Jennie building a small empire so Mason can one day take over the world.

Jacob just chillin' in his high chair. I think he might be asking for more actually. He's my good little eater.

New Hats! New Hats! These are one of a kind, knitted by their friend James & Burke's grandma.
They totally fit their personalities.

Thanks again Grannie Annie! They have the most stylish, sought-after hats in Hoboken.

Shit Show

Yesterday morning brought true meaning to the phrase "shit show". Before my eyes it was brought to life.

As you all know, Mason's been taking off her pajamas daily. But in the past she's really just unzipped her sleep suit. Well yesterday morning she took things a little further. This time she also got her legs out..and her diaper off. Oh yeah.

Now I know she can take off her diaper. She does it every night when she gets ready for her bath. And in the morning when she gets dressed. She undoes one side of it, then she slips it down her leg, like she's taking off a pair of underwear or something and then steps out. Genius.

Anyway...so I go to get Mason and Jacob out of bed yesterday morning and what do I find...but Mason with her suit off AND her diaper off. But her diaper is FULL OF POO!! A large, nasty, clay-like poo. Now in her defense, she did just leave it there. She didn't take it out and smear it on her face or play with it or anything like that. (As I'm sure Jacob would have) She did have it all over her sleep suit and her body.

I didn't know what to do first. But I decided to go for the diaper. As I not-so-carefully picked the diaper up out of the crib, part of the poo fell out onto her white crib shit. Mason looked at it and SCREAMED!!! "Ahhhhhhhh!"

OMG. It was so funny. She hated it. It was like, she totally wasn't into the poo being in her bed. She knew it was disgusting. Thank God.

I didn't want to take a chance again so I put her in a new outfit last night. So we'll see how it goes.

But it's good to know my little genius thinks poop is gross. I wish you all could have seen her scream at it when it hit the sheets. Hilarious.

Mason's Crib Par-tay!

I've recently discovered a new activity. Well, I mean a new activity for the babes. They really enjoy playing in each others cribs. Seriously. They think it's like, the best thing ever. And I don't mind. It takes up a good 20 minutes of our day and they love it.

Yesterday their best friends Burke and James came over to hang. They all haven't seen each other in a while cause everyone has been sick on and off. But anyway...they all decided it would be fun to party in Mason's crib. And it was a frickin' blast. Oh yeah. Ch ch check it out.

Picture of the Month

This was taken last weekend. It's Grandpa Ira reading to his favorite grand daughter. Clearly Mason is totally into it.

But my question is...what happened to poor Jacob?

P P Panera

So today I actually ventured out and took the kids to lunch again after their Friday morning music class. This time, Panera. And guess what...it was actually quite pleasant. Seriously...no issues. I mean, of course there were issues (like the fact that I totally forgot to bring the diaper bag) but nothing out of the ordinary. They ate grilled cheese, chicken and apple juice. It was kinda awesome. You see, they CAN be taken out in public. Sometimes. Stay tuned...

*I wanna give a shout out to my friend Maria who made me get back on the horse and convinced me it would be a good idea to try and take them out to lunch again. She went with me, for moral support of course.

**On another note -- in music class this morning (which is in a gymnasium) another little girl who I had never seen before (she was a little bit older than the twins) pinned Jacob up against the gymnasium wall and kissed him. The little guy didn't really know what hit him. It was SO funny. I wish I had my camera. I told him, this was the kind of thing he really needed to get used to. Girls...

Twin Love

Earlier this week the Mason walked over to where little Jacob was sitting and plopped herself down right on his lap. Clearly, I grabbed the camera and documented this rate occurrence of brotherly/sisterly love. Trust me, it's not like the old days when I used to put them in a Boppy together and they would snuggle and hug and kiss each other. Oh know. I mean, c'mon, Jacob is a boy and has cooties. Right?

Friday Funnies

Just a couple cute shots I took this week. Nothing special. Just Mason and Jacob being Mason and Jacob. Eat your heart out.

Very Tricksy

Mason and Jacob have been doing a lot of really funny shit lately.

(Please note that one of my new years resolutions was to watch my dirty mouth -- sorry Nana Sandra and all my English relatives who might be reading-- but I am trying really hard to watch my language in front of the kids as they definitely understand more and are imitating like crazy. Therefore, I'll use my blog as well to get it all out. HA!)

But yes, the kids are funnier than ever.

A few things that stand out --

-Whenever I change their diapers I usually do it together. So I'll change one, then the other. So now, whenever I get all the stuff out (diapers, wipes, A & D) I'll say, "Who wants to get their diaper changed? or "Who has a stinky?" And Mason always points to Jacob and tries to say his name..."Jjjjay" she'll say. And the little stinker actually volunteers him to go first! If she's standing near him when I say it, she'll actually push him towards me. Seriously.

-Mason continues to undress herself. The past 3 morning when I've gone to get her out of her crib, her sleep suit has been half way off. She also takes off her diaper if she's not wearing any pants. Therefore we try and keep her pants on.

-Laundry -- it's so funny. Whenever I start the washing machine Mason and Jacob run to their room and get their laundry basket and push it out to me. Then they hand me their clothes. They LOVE to do laundry. I guess they take after their Aunt Jennie.

Those are the top 3 tricks of the day. Of course they are climbing all over the place as well. They can now get up on our couch unassisted, they stand on top of their riding toys, and Mason has begun to stand on the foot rest thing to the rocking chair that's in their bed room. It's awesome. The girl just has no fear.

MOR VET BÆST

So as you saw in my last entry, poor little Jacob had a massive meltdown last Friday afternoon. And he had a couple on Saturday. And Sunday morning he was particularly cranky as well. What was wrong? I sort of chalked it all up to teething. Or his leftover cold.

My parents were in town this past weekend to spend time with their favorite grand kids. My mom kept telling me to take Jacob to the doctor. "That's not normal Ann...tell the doc that he keeps crying..."

Uccchhhh. What was the doc gonna tell me? "Sorry, Ma'm but you got a little crier on your hands." I mean, Jacob kind of always cries, ya know. Honestly, I did think it was a little weird that he was crying to the extent he was but just thought my little flower was being ultra sensitive and it was probably his teeth. So I would give him some Tylenol and call it a day. But my mom kept insisting that I take him to the doctors. So Harvey and I finally gave in and packed little Jacob up and took him in on Sunday morning.

And wouldn't you know it...the little shit has an ear infection in his left ear. Well, I just felt terrible. What a bad mom I am. I'm telling you, this sick stuff is hard. You never really know what's going on. And you don't wanna be all crazy and hypochondriac-like and take them in all the time. But you also don't want to ignore them. Ugh. My mom was right once again. How is she always right? I've been asking myself that for years.

When in doubt, mother knows best. I guess. At least mine does.

**As a side note, Jacob is now getting his pink amoxicillin and all is well.

Stacks

So I kind of brought this on myself.

For whatever reason I thought it would be a good idea to try and take Mason and Jacob out for lunch today. Mind you, they have both been sick with colds -- Jacob still has his. Also, Jacob woke up this morning at 6AM. Which is rather early for him these days.

But I took them to music class, as I usually do on Fridays at 10. Then after class I thought it would be fun to go and try this new pancake restaurant called Stacks, that opened up in Hoboken not too long ago. I didn't go by myself, but with my friend Gillian who also has twins and my friend Maria who had her 2 year old.

Let's just say the meal was less than desirable.

From the minute we got there it was mayhem. There was nothing on the table that Mason and Jacob didn't throw on the floor. Splenda, sugar packets, forks, knives, salt, pepper...the cups of cheerios the nice waitress brought for them. The toys I gave them to entertain themselves.

Mason ate part of a napkin. Then she tried to stand up out of her high chair onto the table. (a few times.) Then she managed to take my full glass of ice water and dump it down the front of her. It was awesome. (And this was all before any of our food came.)

When our food came that's when the real fun began. Jacob had a major meltdown. Not sure what triggered it or why it happened. All I know is that it sucked ass. He was crying so much that I actually had to take him out of the restaurant. Awesome. Then he kept crying, didn't want to be held and was rolling around on the sidewalk on Washington street. He finally calmed down for a Fig Newton. Took him back in and tried to salvage what was left of lunch. Took the little trouble makers back home and stripped them down since they had peed through their clothes since I didn't change them for a while. Stupid mama. So while they were running around naked, Jacob peed all over the floor all over this new toy I just got them. Again, totally my fault. Finally got them down for their nap around 1:00 but they didn't want to sleep, although they were exhausted. Went in their room after 15 minutes of them screaming to find they had both pooped. Fabulous. Changed both diapers and finally they went to sleep by 1:30.

Mason woke up at 2:30.
Jacob at 3:30.

Thanks God it's Friday! No really.

My Little Terrors

Today was a hell of a day. I will make a separate post to describe today's events, but for now I thought I'd post some cute pics I've taken over the past couple days.

I mean, they just keep getting cuter and cuter. How can these cutie patooties act like such maniacs? I dunno. They are definitely cute for a reason.

Mason struttin' her stuff.

Mr. Drooley...

Clapping to their favorite Barney CD. Or maybe mama is doing a dance.

Trying to shut me out of his life.

The next is a series of pics of Mase in like, one of the cutest outfits ever. Of course it came from Nana Sandra in England. It is super cute. Even though her shoes don't match. Totally my fault. She outgrew her boots and I haven't been able to find any cute ones in her size. So she has to wear her sneakers. Poor Mason.

Beaver Boy

If you look closely at this photo of Jacob's crib you can see where he's been gnawing on the wood. I hope that this is related to his teething and isn't a sign that our son is turning into a beaver. Yesterday he piled all his toys up like a dam.

U is for Utensils

So one of the many skills we've been working on lately is using a fork and spoon. It's kinda sorta fun. In that I'm a mom and have a couple kids kind of way.

Mason actually really enjoys it. Jacob semi enjoys it. They are getting way better at it then when they started though, which I think is a good sign.

Also, I think it's a strong possibility that little Mason could be a lefty like her Aunt Jennie. Jacob...could go either way. Obviously still too early to tell. Just some predictions.

Check out my little supahstahs in action.

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese

Here are some pics from late December / early Jan.
Duuuhhhh...of course they are cute.

A visit from Aunt Eden & Uncle Bram. Jacob styles Eden's hair before bed.

Reading Mason's fave book "The Escape of Marvin the Ape". How does she know I was taking her picture. She ruined my action shot.

My little smurf.

My little devil. (or angel) However you look at it.

A visit from Uncle Mat. He projects his love of sci-fi on their developing minds.

Mason in Mama's socks. It's even awesomer in person.

Mason found her pink sunglasses!

And so did Jacob!

Total rock star. Yeah baby!!

Tony Soprano

So Harvey always said that Mason was a crime boss. "The way she just walks around here, like she owns the place."

She does have a swagger. And an attitude. And a huge belly. (But it's a gorgeous belly. A baby's belly and I wouldn't have it any other way.)

But she does sort of manipulate Jacob at times. For instance if he has a toy that she really wants but he refuses to give to her, she'll distract him with a different toy then take the one she actually wants. Which makes me think sometimes that she's training him to be her lackey.

For instance, a lot of times when they wake up from their naps -- or in the morning, I don't go to get them right away. But I'll hear them talking to each other, shouting things across the room. It's clearly not English, but some sort of baby code. That's usually followed by Jacob screaming his head off. So what I think has happened is that Mason shouts over to Jacob waking him up. If she's up, then they both must be up. Then she tells him to scream for Mama to come get them. Once he starts to do her dirty work she sits down in her crib and plays quietly, or reads one of the books I've left in their. And Jacob continues to scream for me until I come in. Mason stands up with a wry smile...all in a days work for Mase.

Wednesday Update

So all is well with the wonder twins.

I'm finally finally just NOW getting a chance to update the blog since I last said I was. Lame, I know. But in all fairness, I was working last week. Also, Jacob had a few relapses last week in his sleeping...he somehow forgot he was supposed to sleep through the night. But for now that's all fixed. It only lasted 2 nights...but they were really long nights. Also the Patriots were completely embarrassed on Sunday by the Ravens and that kinda took it out of me. And the kids have been sick -- trading colds and stomach flus. Lots of fun. But all in all...life is good. (Except when the Pats lost on Sunday it made me question whether Brady will ever be the same again which made me really really sad.) Thus I digress....

So the kiddos are getting bigger every day. Doing things more "kid like" and less baby like. Some of the funnier things I've noticed the past couple weeks are:

-Jacob pushes Mason's baby doll stroller around. But without the baby. He always dumps the baby out of the stroller and then pushes is around. Hmm...not very maternal.
-Mason continues to want to pat Jacob on the head every time she wakes up from a nap or in the morning. She says, "Jaaaaay...and strokes his luscious locks."
-They love this Barney CD that my mom introduced them to. I love that they love it. Only problem is Mason demands to be carried around and danced with the entire time. I think the CD has like 20 songs on it.
-Mason and Jacob now give food back to me when they don't want it on their trays.
-Mason enjoys wearing my socks. It's super cute cause they look like leg warmers. She also tries to wear my slippers. Crazy girl.
-Jacob helps me change diapers. He brings me all the stuff that I might need like pampers, A & D and wipes and then puts them back. Wicked smaht.
-Mason picks out her and Jacob's outfits out for the day every morning. Not sure if she just grabs what's on top or really knows.
-They both are dancing fools. They especially like the hoekey pokey. Let's face it, who doesn't?
-Last but not least, Mason now undresses herself. Seriously. The girl can take off her pajamas. And I'm talking about the all in one sleeper that zips up with the snap on top. She undoes the snap and unzips. Maybe she's an exhibitionist, who knows? One morning I seriously found her face down in her crib (she had thrown everything else out) and her sleep suit was half off. She looked like she had a hard night of partying. It was hilarious.

Happy 2010!

Happy Twenty-Ten from the cutest twins on the planet.

You would have thought we would have had time to blog last week while everyone was home and on a sort-of vacation. Nope. Kids are crazy. As usual. They take up a lotta time.

I'll definitely give you an update, but everyone is back at it. Harv is back to work. Boo! I'm working this week. Double boo! But it's fine...someone has to pay for these kids PhDs, right?

But all is well. Kids are cuter than ever. Will post last weeks highlights later.

XOXO
