The Greatest Show on Earth

Saturday Harvey and I took Mason and Jacob to the circus. We went with 4 of their friends so their were 12 of us total. The venue was the Prudential Center in Newark (where the Devils play.) This was their first, actual show where you had to buy tickets and seats. It was two hours long with a brief intermission.

All in all things went superb. I had a ton of anxiety (kind of like I feel when we are about to fly with the kids) and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. All went pretty smoothly I would say - thanks to the gigantic popcorn we purchased upon entering the arena. What did Mason and Jacob like best from the Circus? Was it the clowns? The horsies? The zebras? The elephants (which Mason informed me she'd like to ride.) No. No. No. And No. And it wasn't the strong men or tight rope walkers. Or even the tigers. It was the popcorn. For sure.

But Jacob held onto that popcorn for dear life whilst sharing it with Mason. They finished it.

Also, at one point towards the end of the show I noticed that Mason was running around the aisle with no shoes and socks on. Seriously?? Yes, seriously. I had to use the flashlight app on my phone to find them down the dirty crevasse of the row in front of us. Oy.

All in all...a success.

Yay for the Circus!

The box of popcorn really was as big as Jacob.

Mason tried the cotton candy but didn't like it.

Another action show of our time at the Circus.

Magic Box

"I've got a magic box
With twenty-seven locks
And inside I keep all my secrets
I pretend that it's closed so nobody knows
When I get inside and go for a ride

That I can fly higher than everything
Just watch me now, I'll show you how
My magic box has wings
And I can fly higher than everything
Got a smile on my face
I'm a rocket ship in space
I can do anything
'Cause my magic box has wings "

Snooze

On the way to Jewish class this morning Mason seemed as if she were sleeping in the stroller. I peeked my head around and said, "Mase...you sleeping?" She opened her eyes a little bit and said, "I'm not sleeping Mommy. I'm just having a little snooze."

Really?

Where did these kids come from?

Clearly, she must have got that from Harvey. And all his napping.

Nonetheless it was wicked cute.

My Little Fro

Poor little Jacob. He really needs a hair cut. But I'm so torn. It's so super cute as is. But it's getting a bit unmanageable and honestly is pretty hard to maintain. Mason needs one too...but here hair is a breeze to comb through. Every morning I have to wet Jacob's hair with a spray bottle then comb through it THEN put his relaxer in and style it. It's the combing through part that sucks. He's really really REALLY starting to hate it. And I feel bad. But if I don't comb through it the poor guy will have dreads. Anyway, it was time to comb his hair this morning and he runs away and grabs this baby brush (that neither of them really use any more). He looks up at me with his sad, puppy dog eyes and says, "Use my brush mommy. My hair doesn't like the comb anymore."

Heart breaker. Literally. Watch out ladies...

Old Mac Donald Had A Farm

E-I-E-I-O
And on his farm he had some...

Jacob: Poopies.
Me: What?
Jacob: Poops.
Me: What? There were poops on the farm? No. Old Mac Donald had a farm e-i-e-i-o.
And on that farm he had some...
Jacob: Poops!
(Hilarious laughter ensues from Mason & Jacob who were having their bath...this was last night)

Harvey said, "Well, when you think about it, it actually makes more sense than the dreidal on the farm he's always going on about." True. He has a point.

Then they just got all kinds of silly and Mason started singing "Oh Susana" but like this:
Mason: Oh Sue Buffalo
Don't you cry for me
Cause I come from Alabama with a buffalo on my buffalo.

Again, hilarious laughter ensues.

Crazy kids.

Cuteness X2

Can I help it if I have the cutest babies in the world? I swore I wouldn't become one of those mom's who's always bragging about how cute their kids are...oops. I guess it makes sense since they are my world really. Anyway...here are some pics from around 1:00ish. It's gorgeous out today in the Boken. A tease from mother nature. 64 degrees...What?#$%

This morning when I went to get Mason and Jacob up they were compeltely NAKED. They had taken off their PJs and their diapers and were bouncing around. Luckily no poop. My goodness. It was actually funny. And motivated me to change their crib sheets.

Have a great weekend all.

Valentines Day Pic

Here are my lovers. Jacob gives the best kisses. Mason says "ahhhhh" when she hugs. Awesome, right?

Big Slide

When we were at my parents this weekend we found this amazing indoor play space 10 minutes away. I have a feeling we will be frequenting this establishment more often when we visit Grandma & Grandpa.

Below is one of the slides they had. It's big. Real big.

Look how brave the kids are.

Our GG

Great Grandma Harriet came to visit on Sunday. And she came bearing gifts which made Jacob and Mason super excited. They got a new drum set with a tambourine and whistle and a new key board - kitty cat style. Thanks GG! There were many photo ops Sunday as you'll see below.

Over the meadow and through the woods

...to grandmothers house we go.
We went to visit grandma & grandpa this past weekend. Here is Mason & Jacob walking to the car Thursday night with their new suitcases. Thanks Burke and James!! I couldn't resist.

Valentines Arts & Crafts

Making home made Valentines...ahhh.

Just plain old cuteness

I just love this picture. That's all.

Tap Dancing and Ice Skating

Our bedtime routine is getting longer. And more of a process. As new parts of the routine seem to be adding on a weekly basis. One of the latest ad-ons is called "tap dancing and ice skating". Now, every night after their bath, the twins rip off their towels and dance. Naked. It's hilarious. As Mason puts it, "We're just gonna tap dance and ice skate a little bit." We made them put on diapers so we could try and capture the hilarity. This does a pretty good job.

There's even a segment when they put hats on their head and bounce them off.
Yes, that cowboy hat is in mid air.

Pre-School Interview

So this entry is a little late...but had to record it. On the last Friday in January, I think it was the 29th Jacob and Mason had their interview for the pre-school we applied to in September. We applied for a 3 day a week program for 3 hours a day.

I swear, applying to a pre-school in Hoboken is seriously like applying to college. Their are essay questions. What???

I have to say I was a little nervous. Don't really know why. But I had anxiety for nothing. All went well. It was very lax and was essentially just like a tour of the school where we could ask all kinds of questions. Damn, should have had some prepared. We'll find out in March if we get in.

Wanted to share how cute and grown up they looked.

Dressed to impress.

My big boy.

After we went to Panera to celebrate our good behavior with apple juice and cookies. Jacob didn't really eat any of the cookies. Mason pulled out all the M & Ms.

My young-looking wife

Tonight we had a date night.  Gill came round to put the kids to bed and babysit whilst Ann and I went out to party!  We saw three bands - Flight Skool, Spiritual Rez and Echo Movement.  All the bands were great and Echo Movement finished with Three Little Birds by Bob Marley to celebrate what would have been his 61st birthday on Saturday.  Three Little Birds used to be one of the twins' favourite songs - Ann used to sing it when she was pregnant and when they were newborn.  We even put it on a baby disco party mix with all their fave songs but now whenever Jacob hears it he exclaims "not that one"
But back to the matter in hand - I concede that I was older than most there (I was one of the few there who was alive when Bob Marley died) and was not carded when I went to the bar to order drinks.  Three times.  But I was a little pissed when Ann came back from the bar for the first time with a wristband - she'd been carded as they didn't believe she was over 21!  Do I have a young, sexy wife, or what?!

Too young for hard liquor?

This evening, after a hard day's work, I poured myself a little drink.  A nice glass of whiskey.  "What is that?" said Mason.  "It's daddy's whiskey." I said.  Jacob came over smiling and said "I'd like some whiskey, daddy."  Now clearly Jacob and Mason are too young for hard liquor but how young is too young?  I had my first taste of whiskey around 8 - dad won a bottle in a competition and me, being the brat that I was, screamed until mum and dad poured me a glass.  I drank it and promptly threw up to cries of "we told you so".  Did this put me off whiskey?  Obviously not.  It did, however, hone my palate and make me appreciate better whiskey (dad's was Famous Grouse - a rough blend - not the smoother stuff I enjoy today).
So the question is, should we wait until the twins are 8 before offering them hard liquor or, bearing in mind whose genes they've inherited, should we bring out the shots early?

Happy Birthday to Us!!

Today is Mason and Jacob's 2 1/2 year old birthday!!! Can you believe it? Crazy, right? In just 6 short months those little fuckers will be 3. Wow. It's been an insane trip so far, but I'm really digging the mom thing. As much as I complain I really do love it. Even though they drive me bananas. Case in point...everything is now a process or some sort of ordeal.

Now when we have breakfast in the morning the kids really like to help me get it ready and pour their cereal. So the routine is that I lift them up and sit them on the counter and they get to pour it out with me. Now, it's no longer just Cheerios and Kix. It's Cheerios, Kix, Honey Bunnies, Crunchy Cheerios w Granola and recently Captain Crunch Peanut Butter got added into the mix. And I'm so not exaggerating. That is where us Liebermans are around 7:30 every morning. It's my own fault for letting them do it. But it makes them so happy, so is it really that bad?

This morning they were arguing over who got which bowl. Mason had the bumble bee bowl but Jacob really wanted it. Not his triceratops bowl. So Mason finally felt bad for her big brother and gave up her bumble bee and decided she would have the triceratops cause dinosaurs are cool. We poured the cereal and I brought it over to their table. Now Jacob says he wants a green bowl. Not the one he had been crying for for the last 10 minutes. And he wanted Mason's spoon. OMG. Seriously, it's exhausting.

But they are the cutest. The way they play together now. The things they say. The questions they ask. All the help they want to give - unloading the dishwasher, doing the laundry, cooking. They are the bestest!

Happy 2 1/2 year old birthday Mason and Jacob.

Here are some pics we took this morning.

All the animals off the futon!!

This is my big boy 2 1/2 year old cheesy grin.

If you're happy and you know it...

Yes, this is my real hair.

Silly face!
