Junkie

Only 1 year old and Mason's turned into a junkie. She started by sniffing the baby wipes and has now moved on to infant tylenol and motrin. It's like having a baby-Pete Docherty in the house. This is one little girl we're going to have to watch!

What's-a-happenin...

Hello fans. And lovers.

It's been a busy busy summer ya'll. Just so you know I haven't really been neglecting the blog, I've just been out and about. Doing stuff. With the kids. And Harvey. My family. As you all know, Aunt Melinda had another baby, Harv turned 40, Michael Jackson died, Aunt Jennie got married - and the kids turned 1. Insane, right? I've even managed to do a little bit of work here and there. Worked on Tyra Banks personal website for a couple weeks which was kinda cool. Even got to meet her - presented work to her. Made that crazy bitch laugh. That's right. And I've picked up a new hobby - yoga. The hot kind. Pretty hot, right?

But enough about me...this is a blog about the babies. Who aren't even technically babies anymore. Well, at least according to "babycenter" who emails me weekly. They are considered toddlers now. I think. Which is cool I guess. But in a weird way, sometimes it makes me a tiny bit sad. I guess cause they are growing and getting bigger before my very eyes. And not to sound cliche, but it really does GO SO FAST. All those nerds who gave me this advice were totally right.

So...thought I would give a quick update on some fun facts that are happening in the twins life to date.

-Again, Mason is kinda, sorta walking now. She gets better at it every day.

-Jacob is really good at "If you're happy and you know it" song. He claps, shouts "Hooray!" (which he pronounces as "Ba BA!"), and makes a silly face by sticking his tongue out. It is SO cute. I really need to get that on video.

-Mason tries to say the words "ball" and "puffs" on a daily basis.

-Jacob can identify his penis on command. (in the bathtub only)

-Mason can identify her belly on command.

-Jacob and Mason can both identify their mouth on command. (usually)

-They both have eaten a cheeseburger. And love it. Who wouldn't right? (I know...bad jews.)

-Jacob now picks up the toy cell phone and puts it up to his ear. Seriously.

-Mason has this toy "pretty purse" that she got for her birthday. Inside the purse is some toy money. She takes the toy money out of the purse and hides it in her "ride on winnie the poo car". She checks it hourly to make sure the money is still there. She's wicked smaht.

-Mason has 4 teeth on top, 4 on the bottom and more big ones on the way.

-Jacob has 3 on the bottom and 4 on the top. And I think he has more on the way but i can't be sure cause he never lets me look inside his mouth.

That's all for now folks...stay tuned.

Yes, he IS the cutest little man you've ever seen.

It's a slow walk...kind of like a creep...but a walk nonetheless. Yay!

Aunt Jennie gets hitched

After 10 years, Aunt Jennie finally married Uncle Andy! Yay!
And we were all there to celebrate. Looking back on the weekend it was really great. And the kids were fantastic. (all things considering). It was definitely a little weird to be at a wedding with babies. Much less my sister's wedding. Never happened to me before.

A special shout out to dada Harvey and Aunt Lena for basically taking care of the kids all weekend while I took care of Aunt Jennie.

The ceremony was done by Uncle Mat and it was absolutely beautiful. Mason and Jacob were wheeled down the aisle by Harvey in a white wedding wagon that my mom decorated. It looked awesome. They were awesome. Everyone oohed and ahhed over them. I mean how can you not? Jacob had a mini tuxedo on and Mason was wearing a prom dress. They were good walking down the aisle but 10 minutes into the ceremony they had to be taken out. Totally Mason's fault. But the poor girl was overheated.

Anyway -- here are some shots I got of the day. Unfortunately there aren't that many because I was too busy making sure the bride was comfortable. But I'm assuming other people took some good pics of the kids and will send them to me later. Isn't that what weddings are all about?

Walkin' and stuff

Lots of stuff has been going on. With Mason and Jacob. And I'm afraid I've totally been neglecting the blog. Sorry I kind of suck, but it was Aunt Jennie's wedding last weekend and being that I was her maid of honor, I had to prepare. I'll post some wedding pics in the next post -- but as far as a quick run down:

-Mason and Jacob are both furniture walking like crazy. And walking all over the place with their ride-on toys that they got for their birthday. Check it.

-They went for their 1 year doctor well visit and Mason weighs 21 lbs. Jacob 22.

- They are eating anything and everything -- grilled cheese, pizza, pasta, turkey meatballs. I can't eat one thing in front of them without them flipping out. Even if they've just eaten. They want to eat everything.

-We've had to put a gate up -- gating off our kitchen. Mase and Jake do not like this. If I'm in the kitchen for even 1 minute, they stand at it and yell at me. Especially in the morning if I don't have their breakfast ready exactly at 8:00. So sometimes I'll feed them some cut up fruit through the slats of the gate -- it's kind of like feeding time at the zoo. Minus the zoo. And animals.

Defiance

We're going to have trouble with this one. I can already tell. We know she can say it because she has, but when you ask Mason to say 'mama' this is the kind of response you get.

We're 1 ! We're 1 ! Holy shit! We're 1!

That's right. You read it correctly. Mason & Jacob are officially 1 year old. As of yesterday. And to think a year ago today, I was all drugged up, laying in NYU hospital with some strange woman cleaning my vajayjay for me. Bringing me Jacob at 4AM telling me he needed his mama and wouldn't sleep. Wow. That was really a year ago? Astonishing.

I have to say we had an awesome day full of tons o presents. And lots of partying. And yeah, the day started out with some blueberry pancakes...RIGHT!!

The whole fam was in and we partied with all of our friends. And Mase & Jake's friends of course. We actually had a party with 2 other sets of twins -- James & Burke and Addison & Jackson. Everyone born within 2 weeks of each other. Go figure.

I'll write more later, but just wanted to get a few pics up. I'm exhausted. And Harv's exhausted. It could have something to do with us partying with our friends until 2 AM while Grandma and Grandpa babysat. Hey -- it's quite the accomplishment that it's been a whole year and we haven't lost one or sat on one. And they are kinda sorta sleeping through the night. Yet another pat on the back. For us. But even though you stay out and party, you still need to get up at 6:45 in the morning to take care of the little buggers. So yes...we sleepy. Enjoy these pics...and more to come soon.

A big thank you to EVERYONE who helped make the day so amazing for my babes.
