Pic of the Day

Taken today. Yeah, I know. Harvey and I make really cute kids!

Summah 2014

So far so good this summer.

I'm totally getting the burbs' thing down. The twins got out late from school - not until June 24. What!?! Damn you snow days. It was a long ass winter. So happy it's warm.

So far we've watched the World Cup. Congrats to Germany. Sorry England. Sorry USA. USA did awesome. England not so much. Sorry Daddy.

We've been hanging out on our front porch. Having front yard picnics. Going to Little Gym camp. Reading camp. Swimming with Katie and Lila. Cape Cod with Burke and James. Back yard blow up pool. And water table. Riding our bikes. Making collages. Playing HayDay. And Minecraft. Watching Frozen. And the Lego movie. We took a family trip to Hoboken. Stayed with our BFFs, The Hestons. Took the kids into the NYC and went to Central Park Zoo. We've been counting down until our 6th birthday. Anticipating the arrival of Nana and Papa! Pool parties. Sleeping over Grandma and Grandpas. Hanging out at the Res. BBQing. Mason has rid herself of her fear of the water. She is full on putting her face in. And "going under". She even jumped off the diving board yesterday at Katie and Lila's pool.

And so far the highlight of the summer is Skye is wearing "big girl underwear". Dora, of course. We just picked them out this past weekend. She's had a handful of accidents. But appears to be well on her way. She even has pooped a couple times. In the potty. Duuuuh. Just for the record she is exactly 2 years and 8 months.

I couldn't remember how old the twins were when we trained them. Until I read these entries:

Big Potty

Pee-Pee in the Potty Part Deux

Potty Time

Sausage-Poo

She did It! She did it!

Sausage-Poo Part Deux - from Harv

Big Boy and Big Girl Underpants

Hold That Pee

Poopin' for Poppins

Not to trump Skye's Adventures in potty training, but Mason walks in from outside the other day, goes into the laundry room bathroom and says, "What's this friggin potty seat doing on here?!?" Yes, she said friggin. And she got it from me. I feel AWFUL. But at the same time can't really do anything but move forward. Jacob still says, "What the heck?!?" and "Darny darn darnnit!" which I think he got from the Lego Movie. "What the?" he clearly got from me. Bad Mommy.

Here are my favorite pics from the summer so far.

Trip to the NYC. Good friend Demi next to Jakey.

My handsome Jacob. I can never say no to this face.

And then there's this one.

Here is Mason's first jump off of the diving board ever!!

Feels good to be back. Stay tuned.

I'm baaaaaaaaack

And I'm pretty sure I've used that subject header at least more than once. Ha ha. But I've been debating whether or not to end this blog and realistically, I think I might have to. But I'm still hanging on, hoping, that won't happen. I'm going to give it one more shot. Since the last post I had was entitled "Last Summer" and I did it in February. And it is already this summer that means I'm really behind. Like really really REALLY behind. Over a year. And I already don't have time to write on this thing...Sorry Skye...But realistically I just don't think I'll be able to catch up. So sorry for that lapse of about a year -

Essentially I missed Jacob and Mason from 5-6. And Skye from 1 1/1-2 1/2. Sorry, again Skye. I do feel absolutely awful that I recorded every time Mason or Jacob farted and I haven't even touched on your accomplishments and milestones. Mommy doesn't love you any less. Really. We just won't remember the exact times and dates of your brilliance. And you are brilliant. I'll go on record and say that Skye is way more advanced than the twins ever were at her age. But that's probably because she has two role models to look up to. And all the twins had was Harv and I. Duuuuh.

Anyway, it was a pretty integral year between last summer and now. But here are some top lines. (And I think I may have already touched on these happenings in other posts but chances are if you even read them you most likely forgot)

-The Twins both got their tonsils and adenoids out last June. It was awesome.
-We took a family trip to England in August. We went to Legoland.
-The Twins went to kindergarten.
-Skye started talking. And she hasn't stopped.
-For Halloween Jacob was Luke Skywalker. Mason was "Spot" from Lalaloopsy. Skye was recycled Elmo. Grandma was yoda.
-The Twins are learning to read.
-Jacob is awesome at Lego and Art.
-Mason can do a cartwheel. And is also a fantastic artist.
-Skye eats rice and beans and loves spaghetti and Peppa Pig and still Dora.
-Skye turned 2. And had a Dora birthday party.
-Skye started at The Little Gym.
-The Twins went to their first BU Hockey game.
-The Twins played soccer and continued their gymnastics.
-Mommy turned 40.
-Daddy turned 45.
-We went to the Eric Carle Museum.
-Mason was a Daisy.
-Skye went into a "big girl bed".
-Grandpa took Jacob and Mason fishing.
-Frozen and the Lego movie.
And then it was summer.

By the way, I've also started another blog called "The Suburbs Are Weird". It's more about me than the kids. More insights. More writing. Less pictures. And recording of events. Check it out HERE.

But as for recording of events here are my favorite pics of the year I skipped over:

Jacob and Mason's June Jammin' Party at VO.

Skye waiting for her class at The Little Gym.

VO Kindergarten Concert.

Boo Boo's big girl Dora bed! (04.24.14)

Had to document the big girl bed moment.

Just out for a ladies lunch.

My little rockstar. Mason actually looked like this when I picked her up from school one afternoon.

Father's Day running.

On the VO Kindergarten playground.
