Avocado

It's official. Rice cereal is out. Avocado is in!

The girl absolutely loves it. It's only been 2 days. And I've been giving it to her for dinner. But she just can't get enough. I knew she had a little Texas in her. Afterall, her middle name is Maxine.

I thought she just couldn't swallow. But it seems like she just doesn't like the rice cereal. Hmm....

Sunday Sunday

Sunday we hung out in the Boken. And went to lunch at Clinton Social. And then a newish, cool park with a sandbox on the water. Kids had a blast. It was actually a pretty pleasant day with the fam. I'm definitely gonna miss Hoboken.

Sisterly Love

Awww...so cute. For now. If I had to bet, I'd say Skye is gonna be just as insane as Mason if not worse. There. I said it.

Teething Alert

Skye Maxine has at least one tooth coming in on the bottom. And one coming in up top. Sophie is one of her favorite teething toys. Along with the old frozen wash cloth. And the fancy Combi teethers. Not long now until the little chompers come through!

The Trees of Winchester

Mason and Jacob were painting on Friday. Yes, I let them paint. In the apartment. We do lots of messy stuff around these parts. It's just the kind of mother I am.

Anyway - Mason painted a fabulous picture and then informed me that it was, "The Trees of Winchester". Super funny. Super cute. Super awesome job.

Dancing Lady

This Saturday Jacob drew a dancing lady. That's what he told me anyway. Personally, I think his dancing lady is pretty awesome for a 3.5 year old.

Jumparoo!!

The jumparoo is back people. And Skye is already jumping away. Sure, it's a month later than I started Mase and Jake, but I'm in no rush with this one. Plus, we don't have to put books underneath her so she can touch the ground. Go Skye! Get busy!

OK, so I've waited long enough. The poor girl is already 5 months plus a week. Figured it was about time to start her on solids. Clearly I was in no rush. Part of me is a little nervous it might make her constipated. But oh well. We'll deal. She took her first helping of rice cereal like a champ. Much better than I remember Mason or Jacob doing it. But she is a 3rd child. And wicked smart so...we shall see.

Here is how her experience compared with the twins first time. Granted, they were almost a full month younger when I started with them. Clearly I was an eager beaver back then. Oh, how things have changed.

Passover Videos 2012

Passover Punks

This year Passover was pretty awesome. Again, because the kids are really at an age where they love this stuff and are totally into it. And also probably because they go to a Jewish nursery school and have been learning about Passover for the past month. Duhhhh.

They came home with lots of Passover arts and crafts including seder plates, frogs, Matzah prints, and home made Haggadahs. Which told the story of Passover. Each kid in the class created a page and then they bound it together. Jacob did the page where Moses parted the Red Sea. And Mason did the page talking about the evil Pharaoh.

Other great parts about Passover this year was that the kids were obsessed with frogs. Apparently that's the plague they remember the best. And the one they are the most fascinated with. It was funny, a couple of weeks ago I was the "helpy helper" at school and they were reading a book on Passover and the 10 Plagues. They got to the "slaying of the first born" in the story. One of the kids asked for further explanation. The teacher just paused and then said, "Yeah, you know what...this one isn't really that important. Let's just move on." HA.

They were also obsessed with not eating Challah or bread on Passover and only eating Matzah. Although they've been eating cereal every morning. And sandwiches for lunch. And Matzah. Harv and I figured they're only 3 1/2 so...eh.

They also were really into the Passover story and Moses being the good guy. Pharaoh being the bad guy. And I often caught them acting out scenes from the Passover story the last few weeks. Jacob will often lay on his back and cry, pretending to be baby moses and then Mason comes along as the "princess" (Pharaohs daughter) and saves him.

Also they are really into finding the "afikoman". (as any kid would). And again, have been pretending to hide and find the afikoman around the house for weeks. It's pretty amazing to watch. And hilarious at the same time.

So seder was good. Real good. It was small -- just the four of us. Skye was napping for the service part and woke up just at we were about to eat. But we did the 3 1/2 year old seder which I really enjoyed. I think the highlights of our Seder 2012 were a couple things...First off, Mason officially found the Afikoman (although Jacob thinks he found it too). But the best part was at the end of the night when we were going to let in Elijah to come drink his wine....We decided to do it like my family always did it where me, Jennie and Mathew would walk to the door and let Elijah in, and when we got to the table, his special glass of wine had magically disappeared. I was always amazed.

So we did the same. I walked over to our front door with Mase and Jake to let in Elijah. When we returned to the table, his wine glass was empty. "Wow!" I said. "Thanks for letting him in. Ad you see, he drank his wine." Mason looked wide eyed, mouth agape, wheels turning in her head.

Jacob looked around the room, also with his mouth wide open, when he smiled and shouted out, "You know what I think. I think that DADDY DRANK THE WINE!! THAT'S WHAT I THINK!"

I couldn't help but crack up. That smart little shit. How'd he know. He's only 3 1/2!! It took me until I was about 13 to figure that out. But then again, clearly he's Harvey's son.

Opening Day 2012

Skye isn't too happy with the 3-2 loss to the Tigers and seems a bit worried about their $173,000,000 pay roll.

BFFs

Burke and James are Mason and Jacob's BFFs. Even though lately they three boys have been kind of a clique. Kind of ignoring and not including Mason -- cause she's a girl. And girls are stinky and only play with purple things. And Dora things. But you and I both know, that as they get older, that the joke is on all of them. I'm not worried about Mason. She can hold her own. But anyway...we're really gonna miss them when we're gone. Like really really REALLY. But we're already hoping they come visit us for a sleepover.

We met up at the park the other day and then went back to our place to play.

5 Months Old!!!

Skye turned 5 months old last Monday. The time is seriously going by fast. But, well, she's still my little baby. And I still kinda dress her like a baby. And she still likes to fall asleep on me. And she's still not that close to sleeping through the night. She goes down around 7:30/8:00. Has a feed around midnight. And then wakes up like clockwork at 4AM every day. So, yeah. It's pretty awesome. Usually it takes her about an hour to finally go back down and then it's a wildcard. Sometimes she's up again at 6. Sometimes she'll sleep til 7. If she wasn't so darn cute...

We had a party that night to celebrate. Mason had a cupcake. Jacob blew out the candle.

Sleepy and Sleepier

I really don't know what to say about this video. You'll just have to experience it for yourself. I think the funniest part actually, is the music that's on a continuous loop on Grandpa's phone. Enjoy!!

Huntah & Skyebird

Last weekend we were up in Boston doing house stuff and stayed at Grandma & Grandpa's again. Big cousin Hunter came to visit and hung out with Skye for most of the time. Seriously, he's ONLY 3 weeks older.

A Christmas Story

A week or so ago I needed to get the stroller wheel on the double stroller pumped up cause it was really flat. And it becomes really really flat when Jacob and Mason are in it because they are both 30+ pounds now. (they actually don't really need the stroller so much anymore but when we have to go places far, like school, that is the best mode of transport.) Anyway, point is, Sarah was here looking after the twins so I loaded Skye into their stroller for the first time, and went to the bike shop. I wasn't sure if she'd like it. And I thought it was way colder outside than it actually was. Anyway, here is what she looked like.

Totally reminds me of the little brother from "A Christmas Story" when he falls over in his snowsuit cause he can't move. Classic.

Here is another really cute pic of Skye from last week. She had a rough night and finally went back to sleep around 5:45 AM. And slept til 9:00AM!!! She never does that. (usually because Mase and Jake are animals and SO friggin lound all the time.) I had to go into the room to make sure she was still breathing like 5 times cause I was so paranoid. Anyway, she woke up super duper happy. Like the happiest baby ever.

The Gazillion Bubble Show

A couple weeks ago we took Jacob and Mason into New York for a fun day out. They are finally at the age where we can actually take them places and not want to stab ourselves. They are pretty self sufficient. We now don't have to take their water bottles every where we go. Or a million snacks. Or a diaper bag. Or a stroller for that matter. But we do still have to take the portable potty, and a change of underwear and pants for Jacob so I guess it's a trade off. We left little Skye at home with Sarah and headed to Times Square for a day full of fun.

We got there early. Early enough to walk around Times Square. They kids were absolutely amazed. I mean, we've taken them into the city before. But as I mentioned I feel like they are just now at the age where they actually notice things. (too bad we're moving soon...sniff sniff)

Mason requested that we get a pretzel right away. I think it must be in her "Goodnight NYC" book. That, or she's just really in tuned with the pretzel vendors. So we did that. And they loved their pretzels. Who wouldn't.

So happy!

Then we went to the main even for the day (well at least in Harvey and my eyes) The Gazillion Bubble show. It was actually a Broadway show for kids. It was essentially an hour show with lots of bubbles. Big bubbles, little bubbles, square shaped bubbles. All the bubbles a 3 1/2 year old could dream about. It was pretty awesome. And for anyone with kids the same age, I'd highly recommend it.

After the show we went to have lunch. And the kids ran around a little bit after.

So excited for Spring! And all the flowers. Yay Spring!

After lunch we took the kids to M&M world. They were absolutely in heaven! And Jacob doesn't even really like "emi ems".

After M & M world we decided to take them to the big Toys R Us in Times Square. You know, the one with the ferris wheel inside the store. Luckily you had to be at least 5 or something like that to ride it. Phew...got outta that one. Honestly, the store was a bit overwhelming. So they each got a little toy and we headed back to the car.

The other crazy thing about Times Square is that there are Disney characters walking around everywhere!! And for $1 you can take a pic with them. So who needs to go and stand in long lines at Disney World when you can go to Times Square.

Jacob was a bit squirmy. He had a love hate relationship with all the characters. He wanted to hang out with them, but was a little nervous at the same time.

So yeah. We had a great day all around. They kids were totally beat on the car ride home. I was too. But didn't fall asleep with food in my mouth. But maybe that's because I wasn't eating anything at the time.
