Two Stories

So I haven't posted again in a while and I still have some posts I want to make but the blog is really hard to keep up with these days. So much is happening. They are talking so much. And are so funny. It's hard to capture it all. I mean, shit, even just waking up in the morning is an event every day. Before that.

Mason has been waking up really early these days.Like 6:30/6:45. (Clearly if Mason wasn't around Jacob would be sleeping until like 10:00. No really, he would.) So I usually get woken up by Harvey getting up or showering or something and then I'll look over, turn on the monitor and Mason is usually sitting there. Sitting up. Reading books. Then she starts talking and singing. It's great. She can entertain herself for a good hour usually. Thus I digress.

Here are two things I felt worth documenting that happened recently.

Jacob FINALLY gets to shake shake shake

So I switched them to chewable vitamins a couple months ago as opposed to the liquid vitamins they used to take when they were babies. For one, the liquid smelled and kind of stained and was just all around nasty. And the kids started to realize that. And didn't want to take them anymore.

So I got them chewables. And Jacob has refused to take them for 2 months. So I stopped really trying. When my mom was here a couple weeks ago she was appalled that I hadn't given Jacob any vitamins for like 6 weeks and suggested I put it in his juice in the morning. (which Jacob loves more than life itself) I thought he would know. But I was wrong. My mom was right. Like always.

One way I tried to get little Jakey to take his vitamins was by offering to let him shake the bottle after. As we know, Jacob LOVES to also shake things. I thought it was a good incentive anyway. And Mason would shake the bottle after she had her vitamin. But Jacob wouldn't bite. He really was against trying the chewy vitamin.

Until this morning.

I asked him as I do every morning, "Does Jacob want a chewy vitamin?" "Yeah" he says. And the funny thing was, this time he wasn't lying. I handed it to him and he took it ever so cautiously. He bit half of it off and chewed. And then put the other half in and chewed that up. I applauded. He immediately turns to me and says, "JayJay shake. JayJay shake." So he did.

Yeah for Jacob!

Here is a pic of him right after. Don't judge the crazy hair. This was very early.

Time Out! Time Out!

So this is pretty hilarious as well. I caught Mason earlier in the week putting her stuffed animals in time out for spitting milk all over themselves. I know. "Brilliant" as Harv said when I told him about it. We were drinking our milk in the morning, "chilling on the futon" when all of a sudden I heard here telling Elmo to go into time out. "Elmo time out! Elmo go time out!" Then she faces him against the wall. It couldn't have been cuter.

I asked her why she put him in time out and she informed me that he spit milk out on himself. So he go time out.

Funny, right???

Got lots more to tell, but I'm afraid I have to run. More later.

Sunny Days Sweepin' the Clouds Away

A few weeks ago we packed up the car and set off to Langhorne, PA. According to Wikipedia Langhorne is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,981 at the 2000 census. Another reason one might go to Langhorne is they have a free standing Chick-Fil-A. And a little something something called Sesame Place. Yes, it's a theme park with all the Sesame Street characters. We weren't really sure how Mason and Jacob would take to it because they've never really been around 6 foot, live, furry people. But they absolutely LOVED it. It might have been the best two days of their 2-year-old lives up until now.

I had no idea how much they would love it because they don't even really watch Sesame Street that much. Or ever. But they do know the characters because they are on absolutely everything - their diapers, their juice boxes and all their snacks. (Actually I even taped a picture of Elmo on a box of spaghetti the other night just so I could try and get the kids to eat pasta. It worked on Jacob. He now loves "Elmo Spaghetti". Mason...not so much. But she did try it.)

Anyway, we were at the park for 2 days and stayed the night at a Hampton Inn Suites. And it really was a blast. For all parties involved. I swear they had so much fun, I could hardly believe it. The highlight of the trip was definitely this lunch we booked with "Big bird and friends." It was essentially an air conditioned room (thank god for that) with a buffet (all the chicken fingers you can eat) with all the Sesame Street characters -- Cookie, Elmo, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert and Zoe. The characters came around to all the tables and mingled with the kids and they even preformed. I thought Mason was going to have a heart attack when she saw cookie monster. Honestly, she was freaking out! "Cookie come over! Cookie come over! Cookie come here right now!" she screamed. And I kind of felt like I needed to lure Cookie over to our table before she totally lost it. But then I realized Cookie was going around to all the tables in a certain order and I had become one of those annoying moms I despised. But it all worked out in the end.

Other highlights was Ernie's big bouncey bed and Ernie's splashy pond. They loved the water. Which was awesome because it was a gazillion degrees out. And it also confirmed my theory that Mason is a pool girl. That's right. She loved it. No sand in sight. They also climbed a ton. On things I could have never imagined they could climb up like Cookie Mountain. We also took in a show, "Elmo Rocks". Wasn't too bad. But we were entertained just watching the kids.

We did try and take the kids on a water slide. Unsuccessful. They absolutely HATED it. Every minute. Screamed. Cried. And screamed. But we waited in line for like 15 minutes, so dammit they were going down. I totally thought Jacob would be into it. I couldn't have been more wrong. We also took them on the merry-go-round which Jacob hated almost as much as the water slide. He was so excited to ride the horseys and 10 seconds into the thing he lost it. Wanted off.

All in all I think it was the best thing we did all summer. (besides their birthday party) We'll definitely be back again. For sure.

The entrance...Ahhhh.

Mason cooling off. Check out the blue water. Niiiice.

Jacob rules the pool. Ask Mason.

One of my favorite pics of the trip.

Big slide. Jacob is a big brave boy. You should see what he climbed up to go down it.

Taking a break next to Cookie's cookie jar.

"Mason and Jacob sat on Elmo's lap." -- she still says it every day.

Awww...Ernie.

Jacob and Zoe. He does have a way with ladies.

Cookie is their fave.

Jacob just wouldn't let Cookie go. He's hanging on his leg.

The highlight reel.

Mason having a heart attack because she wants Cookie to come over right now!

Ernie's bouncey bed. They just wouldn't come off.

Cookie Mountain

What Jacob climbed up to get to the big boy slide.

Pooooooooooooop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I wanted to get this quick story in although I know I still owe a few more stories.

And yes, the title of this story, "Pooooooooooooop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" is supposed to be reminiscent of the "Baby Ruth" in the pool scene from Caddyshack.

Anyhoo - this morning I walked into Mason & Jacob's bedroom and just as I get through the door Mason exclaims, "Mason has poo poo!" So of course I'm like, "OK. Well Mommy will get Mason out of her crib and then we'll change diapers."

I peep over the edge of her crib and yes, Mason was right. She definitely had poo poo. ALL OVER THE CRIB. All over her mattress. Her books. Her bumper. I guess she had a heavy diaper and decided to alleviate the heaviness by sticking her hand in the back and scooping it out. Yes, it was absolutely awful. And disgusting. But we cleaned it all up. And I even washed her bumper which I haven't done I don't think since they were born.

Anyway, I had to blog it. Sorry Mase. I ratted you out.

B-O-O-T-S! Boots!

Anyone who is familiar with The Laurie Burkner band will be familiar with the Boots song. Which Mason and Jacob absolutely love. It's not too bad actually. (Oh gawd. Listen to me. What have I become??) And now they know how to spell boots. Which is kinda awesome, seeing as they are just two.

They love when it rains so they can put on their raincoat and boots (thanks to Great Grandma Harriet) and splash around in puddles. It's wicked cute I have to say. Jacob doesn't love his rain coat. I think he thinks it's a little girly. But I'm not sure why that bothers him since he likes to wear Mason's tutus and carry her handbags. Hmmm. Anyway, here are some pics I took about a month ago and some from this weekend.

Actually, Jacob didn't have his boots on this weekend because he has a big ass foot and has already grown out of them! But he still wore the rain coat.

Go ahead. Love them. You know you want to.

OK so I lied

But I did organize. And I know what pictures I want to post and stories I want to write. I'm just tired. And my fantasy team lost by 3 points so I'm so not in the mood.

Stay tuned tomorrow. And I'll try and get it done.

I leave you with this hilarious video from grandma and grandpa's visit this weekend. This should keep you busy hitting refresh until I get around to posting the other stuff.

Hello People!!!

Hey all the Mase & Jake fans out there!

So much has happened since my last post. And again, I feel absolutely terrible I've been so bad at updating. I honestly don't know what I've been doing. I mean, besides taking care of two, two-year-olds. Ha ha.

Again, the kids continue to grow by leaps and bounds. They are both talking. Like crazy. And saying crazy shit. Honestly, I cannot believe some of the things that come out of their mouths. Like Mason says the word "episode". As in "I want to watch the Sharing episode". (on yo gabba gabba). Really! And Jacob continues to amaze me with his ability to work things like the remote control, my phone (touch screen smart phone) and he knows what certain buttons on the computer do. They are unbelievably smart. Just like me. Or Harv.

So yeah...I'm planning on writing a bunch of entries later tonight. Maybe as I watch Monday Night Football - Jets v Ravens. I have a vested interest in the game because I have three players on my fantasy team playing so should be good.

So yeah, look for entries on "Boots" our trip to "Sesame Place" the kid's "New Table" and "The Kickoff of the NFL 2010". There is SO much stuff I want to write about I don't even know where to begin. But hopefully I'll figure it out tonight. So check your computers in the morning. Or late night. Whichever you fancy. :) You see, now that I've promised all of our fans that I would update the blog - maybe I'll actually follow through with it. I'm hoping it will put a little pressure on anyway. I'll leave you with this cute pic.
