Victoria's Secret

So I was in Vicky S's the other day picking out some unmentionables. OK, just some undies. I was perusing their PINK 5 for $25 sale. Which I thought was quite good. I picked up a pair that looked quite big for the size that it was marked. I asked the sales girl if they "run big". She looked at me for a second and then asked me what size pants I was. I paused for a second and then she proceeded to guess.

Her: "Size 2?"
Me: Uh...no.
Her: "Size 4?"
Me: No.
Her: "6?"
Me: Nope.
Her: "Really?"
Me: Honey, I just had 2 babies so...

Harvey liked how I said "Just". So what if it was nearly 7 months ago. I can "just" up to a year I think.

But the point of the story is, did this girl REALLY think I was a size 2? Was she not looking at me? C'mon now. Maybe that's what they are trained to say. I dunno. But it was really f'n strange.

Quick Hits from Hoboken

So once again, it's been a while since my last post.

I apologize. Really. I haven't meant to neglect the blog...but since I've been trying to do this work thing it's been sucking up my time.

So...what's been happening in Lieberland since the fancy photoshoot with the kids on Monday?

-Grandma Sherry and Grandpa Ira came to town. Grandma was with us since Monday. Grandpa came up on Thursday. The time went by ridiculously fast. I have to say, we all had the best time ever. It really is so much easier when you have other peeps to help look after and love the kiddos. And grandma and grandpa have a whole lotta love. They even babysat and Harvey and I went out 2 nights in a row! It's true. And we didn't fall asleep. I felt sad when they left today. I kept trying to get them to stay longer. Even if they did bring large quantities of meat into the house. They're really nice to have around. And no, not just cause they babysit.

-Jacob is kinda sorta sitting up. And it's pretty awesome. He's such a cutie patootie

-Mason is eating her veggies like a good little Mason should. She's woofing down the home made butternut squash. She's eaten peas again. And tonight she even had some of Jacob's carrots.

-Jacob is now actually jumping in the Jumparoo.

-I found out that they really really like James Brown. I sing them "I feel good" on a daily basis. (I don't think I've mentioned this before. If I have, it's because I have baby brain).

-Jacob is growing lots of hair. And Mason too. But Jacobs looks curly. Or wavey.

Picture Day

Harvey had off today and we decided to take the little munchkins to get some cheesy portrait photos! We were off to Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us in Paramus. A couple of my friends in my twin mommy group (yes, i'm in a twin mommy group. and yes, i know i haven't really talked about it yet. but i will soon. oh yes, i will.) had gotten their kids pics taken at this place so I thought I'd give it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?

Well, first off, it was sort of stressful picking out what they were going to where. I wanted to be cute. And match. But mostly be cute. So after about an hour of going through their closet and trying to figure out what fit them I had the perfect outfits. I won't tell you right now, because after I get the pics out to my family members I'll post them on the blog. And I kind of want it to be a surprise. But lets just say that the outfits were AMAZINGLY cute.

On another note, Mason has this little zit on her cheek that's been there for about a month. I was actually debating about not taking them in today if the zit was still there. But it's still there. And I don't know when it's going away. So I brought some cover up and powder with me thinking I'd give her a little dab and make it go away. But I didn't want anyone to see me. I mean, I didn't want them to think I was a crazy, child beauty pagent like mom or anything. Afterall, what kind of sane person puts make-up on a 6 month old? Well, I did try a little dab of powder when no one was looking but then I got paranoid that it made it worse, so ultimately rubbed it off.

So to make a long story short -- taking the pics was kind of fun for Harvey and I. Not so fun for Mason and Jacob. They were being poked and prodded and put in all sorts of uncomfortable postions. Plus our photographer was this older woman with a deep voice who sounded like she smoked 3 packs a day. Her name might have been Gladys. But she kind of reminded me of Marge Simpson's sisters, Patty and Selma.

And Mason just refused to smile. She was giving the stink eye to everyone. (So it's not just you Edan! Don't worry.) And you all know how smiley she is. You've seen the pics. Jacob was flirting, as he normally does but for some reason he wasn't particularly smiley either. I was trying to make them laugh, but the stupid photographer wouldn't let me really get in her business. She thought she could do a better job apparently and I feel like she yelled at me at one point cause I was standing in her light. I respected that and backed away. But she got no smiles. I have the most serious babies ever.

Also, I brought a wardrobe change for them, but there was no wardrobe change. I made the executive decision not to even try it for fear that Mason would lose her shit and go absolutely ballistic if we tried taking her clothes off. And then putting more back on . It was already bad enough that I made her wear tights.

All in all, the pics actually came out pretty good. I figured they weren't the best pics ever, but we would still order a few. Well, $100 later I realized I LOVED the pics. They were the best ever. Ha ha ha ha.

So if you are lucky, you'll see one of these pics if you ever come over. If you're really really lucky, we'll send you one. And for those who are unlucky - don't worry. You'll still get to see the pics. I will post them on the blog in the not so distant future. So hold out for them, cause they're definitely worth the wait.

On a side note...my mom, grandma sherry is in town this week. Plus I'm starting another freelance job soon, so my posts might have to be fewer and far between. But just know that I'm still dedicated to this blog. It is my first love. And holds a special place deep in my heart.

Talk soon.

Supermom

Our kids have a Supermom. I'm not kidding. A couple of weeks ago the twins caught the dreaded stomach bug (you can read all about it in earlier posts). At the height of their puking I caught it too and so poor Ann had to look after three pathetic babies. Any mere mortal could not have coped but Ann, sans cape, was more than up to the task. I spent a day and a half in bed whilst she ran round, looking after the twins, cleaning everything in the house and even finding time to take care of me too. What a gal! The most amazing thing is that even in a germ-infested house she didn't get sick herself. It was almost as if she wouldn't allow herself to get sick because she had to take care of everyone else. Here's to you supermom and moms everywhere. Happy Valentines Day.

Supermom hanging out with the babes. She lets them play with her hair eventhough it hurts. What a mom!

This Old Man

And no, I'm not talking about Harvey. (Ha ha ha. Sorry, Harv. I totally set you up.)

I was singing that "This Old Man" song to the kids yesterday afternoon. Every once in a while, when I'm desperate I'll pull out and oldie but goodie from my childhood.

"This old man. He played 5 he played nic-nac on my hive. With a nic-nac paddy whack give the dog a bone. This old man came rolling home."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

How is it I never realized how diiirty that song is. I mean, I haven't wikipediaed it or anything. But what am I doing playing with an old man in the first place? Secondly, why is he playing nic-nac with me? What is nic-nac? Whatever it is, not sure I want him to be playing it in the various places the song talks about--

This old man...
he played five - he played nic-nac on my HIVE.
he played four- he played nic-nac on my DOOR.
he played three - he played nic-nac on my KNEE.
he played two - he played nic-nac on my SHOE. -
he played one - he played nic-nac on my THUMB. -- NO! not the thumb.

Then there's the whole "paddy-whack" give the dog a "bone".

All I know is I don't want any old man whacking his paddy or dealing with any kind of bone around me or my 6 month olds. Sick.

Maybe next time I'll skip that song and stick with the marching ants. (You know, "the ants go marching one by one, hurrah, hurrah) Although, that little ant can be cheeky. Ha ha ha.

All about ME

Hello girls and boys.

I know. I know. It's been forever since my last post. Well, I kinda have a good reason.

I didn't really share this with all the blog readers til now cause I wanted to make sure most of the people who I talk to on a daily basis - friend and family members - ect knew before reading on the blog...but, well, I was suppose to actually go back to work next week. Yes, my 6 months plus some are up and Monday, the 16th is when I agreed to go back. But before I went on my trip to England I got a call from my new boss letting me know because of the economy and "corporate restructuring" my services were no longer needed at Taxi NY. I was being laid off. Again. For the 3rd time in my career. Shame.

To be honest, I wasn't all that broken up about it. I always said this was sort of best case scenario. I have to say, I was looking forward to going back to my job just to see what it would have been like to work full time and have the kiddos. I had a nanny all lined up and everything. My amazing baby nurse, Ann Marie, was going to come back temporarily and help us out (even though she prefers working with newborns) for a couple months and we were going to take it from there. But, clearly that's not happening. I don't wanna harp on the situation because this is a blog about the kids. Not me, really. But the point is, I did pick up some freelance work last week. Crazy right? I guess I'm just a wanted woman, what can I say?

So since I don't have any help yet watching the kids, as you can imagine, it's hard to find time to do my freelance job, much less write on this here blog!! It's really fun during the day to try and sit down and do some work and then someone poos through their onesie. Ha ha ha ha. But the job is over today. But there is a good chance I might pick up another one really soon. So stay tuned.

Just know that the kiddos are well. They finally got rid of than damn stomach bug. That sucked. Big time. But it's all over now. Thank sweet baby Jesus.

Quick hits from the week:

-Mason is on the move. Even more so than before. Rolling like a crazy little bowling ball. I'll maybe try and get a video this weekend. But she rules.

-Mason ate butternut squash. And seemed quite happy about it. Sure, she wore most of it, but she liked it. That's what's important.

-Jacob has been sleeping in his crib all night. No shit. Yes, he still cries. Often. But he's learning to get himself back to sleep without us going in every 5 minutes. The little dude doesn't even use a pacifier at night any more. God bless him.

-Harv and I have been making our own baby food. Which is fine. Per the docs request since Mason refused to eat the Gerbers Organic purees I was trying to feed her. She only likes fresh. Hmm...I can see this being a sign of more fun to come.

-Jacob is a little bouncing freak. He loves his jumparoo. And is quite cute bouncing away. Again, will try and get a little vid to show him off.

My mom is coming to stay with us next week for a week. And I couldn't be more thrilled. Seriously. Grandma Sherry is crazy. For those of you who know her, you KNOW what I'm talking about.

That's all folks.

Did you miss us?

I didn't take many pics during sick week.
But here are some shots from yesterday and I think the day before.
So much cuteness, it can't be contained!

Look out ladies!

Little lady. Big couch.

Rolling around like maniacs on our blankets Aunt Jennie made us.

All is well on the Hoboken front

So everyone kept everything down yesterday. And the poops are getting harder. I never thought I'd be so excited to see hard poops. But then again, it makes me slightly nervous that constipation is coming. Damn. I'm never happy, am I. I'm always worried about them. I think that comes with the territory of being a baby mama.

Mason took her last taste of soy formula this morning. We are going to switch her back the next feed. So fingers crossed.

It's a nice sunny, warmish day in the boken today. Can't wait to go out with the babes. And my sexy babes.

More later.

Sick Report 02.07.09

So I'll make this quick...but hopefully things have returned to normal in the Lieberman household. I thought they were better on Thursday, but then Mason puked at about 4:00 on Thursday. A lot. Like all over the place and all over her. So much so that I actually had to give her her bath early. Then 10 minutes later, I was sitting Jacob up in his crib like a dumbass and he fell over and bumped his head on the mobile leaving a little bump. Ugh. But he's fine. His pupils are the same size and he hasn't thrown up so I think we're in the clear.

Yesterday, everyone kept everything down, although I've switched Mason's formula to this special soy non-poopy formula. Similac Isomil DR -- for all that are interested. I guess I'm supposed to keep her on it til she gets better cause any lactose product does not mix well with the stomach flu. So that is that. Oh yeah, Harvey is back and well. I know you all were wondering how he's doing. He's doing so well that he's even managed to eat two cadbury orange cream eggs and some tom yom seafood soup from malysian last night. Yay!

Me...I'm fine. I mean, as fine as I've always been. Yay for Saturday! Let's hope it's a pukey poop free day.

Sick Report 02.05.09

This morning Mason sneezed and farted at the same time, so I think it's gonna be a great day.

So far so good. Everyone seems to be much improved. Everyone kept all their food down yesterday. Harvey even went to work and didn't have to run out of the lab at any time. Mason still has a bit of diarrhea. And little Jacob still seems a little quiet, but hopefully we are past the worst of this. Hip hip horray!

The only thing is that it is freezing out today so I think we may be confined to the indoors. Fun fun fun.

One more thing...

It's 11:55 and I'm still in my PJs.
The blue, flannely, comfy ones. You know the ones I'm talking about Jennie...you have them in purple.

Sick Report 02.04.09

Things are better on Clinton Street today.

Yesterday was touch and go. Jacob went the whole day without throwing up although he seemed a bit lethargic.

Mason went most of the day, but then decided to visit puke city around 5:30 with her evening cereal and pedialyte.

Harvey was feeling better. Although he didn't really relax and take care of himself cause he was helping me take care of the kids all day.

We fed them formula last night and they made it through the night, although Jacob was up often.

Today things seem good so far. No throw up. So that's a good sign. I'll keep you posted...

Oh yeah, fyi -- Pedialyte poop is GREEN. I mean, really green. Not sure if it is just the grape flavor or not but it's green.

Oh yeah, and for those who were wondering how I am doing...I am good. Real good. Just trying to disinfect the house and toys which is challenging. What the heck are you supposed to do with the stuff that you can't put in the wash or dishwasher? I mean, what are you supposed to wipe it with? All the gentle stuff to babies isn't really a disinfectant. And then the potent stuff like Lysol is way too strong. So being a genius, I decided to wipe everything down with their baby wipes. If the wipes are safe enough for their asses they must be safe...right? Then I thought I would kill the germs by taking the Purell Hand Sanitizer and wiping it all over. Seemed like a good idea. Until I read on the back of teh Purell..."Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away." Hmmm...maybe not the best of ideas. I only did a couple things with it. And I went over those things with water. Cause water should get out the poison. Ha ha ha.

Update later...

Sick Report 02.03.09

Things are not well on Clinton Street. Both kids and Harvey have some sort of stomach bug. It started with Jacob on Saturday night puking up his whole bottle. Oh wait, first he had massive diarrhea where he pooed through his onesie but we didn't think it was anything. Rather we thought it was all the prunes he had been eating. The kid goes NUTS on prunes. He loves them. Can't get enough of them. That night he puked his bottle and sweet potatoes. Again, I didn't really think anything of it. Thought maybe we didn't burp him well that afternoon and he caught an air bubble. We realized Sunday he was sick when he puked up his bottle again.

So he was on the Pedialyte most of the day.

Then yesterday Mason puked her bottle. And she had the nasty diarrhea which literally smelled like one of those sulfur stink bombs that someone in your high school used to set off in between classes. Ew. Although we tried keeping them apart, wiping everything down and designating their own play mats, bouncey seats ect, she still got it. As I called Harvey at work to let him know Mason was now sick, he let me know that he was not feeling well either and on his way home. Oy.

So I had 3 sick babies to deal with yesterday!!! Ha ha ha ha.

Where did we get this? Was it from my playgroup that I went to on Friday? From the doctor's office on Friday? The airplane? Or perhaps we brought back Mad Cow from England as my friend Maria suggested...

Last night was pretty good though. I kept both kids on the Pedialyte throughout the day and night and then fed them a few ounces of formula and some cereal this morning. Lets hope they keep it down. And that Harvey feels better too! No one likes a stinky, poopy husband. Actually, I do. They are the best kind. You should try it sometime.

More later...or tomorrow...

Happy 6 month birthday to us!

Today, Mason and Jacob are officially 6 months old. I was thinking I should do something festive for them like bake a cake, give them some sort of gift or take them to Babies R Us or Sears to get real, official portraits done. But instead we stayed in. Jacob had a stomach bug which stinks. And Mason enjoyed herself, rolling all over the place and singing and dancing with Aunt Jennie.

Funny cause this is the first year I really haven't given a rat's ass about the Superbowl. It could be because the Patriots aren't in it and we didn't have a Superbowl party. Or maybe because I don't really care much about either team that played. I was way more interested in watching the ads. In fact, my favorite commercial, was after the game for Denny's Grand slam breakfast. It featured a puppet banana with googley eyes and a mustache dancing on top of a stack of pancakes. Brilliant.

Below is a video of Mason's 6 month old birthday dance.

Clinton Street Minute

First, a little eye candy. These pics were taken yesterday. Love the outfits. And check out all of Jacob's hair!

So...lets see. What's happened on Clinton Street since we last got together. Well I guess that would be since we've gotten back. The week was a little rocky. The kids were jet lagged. Which was weird. They started getting up at like 2AM. But as the week went on we slowly got them back to just about normal. And then today, poor little Jacob caught a stomach virus. On their 6 month birthday no less. YES, THEY ARE 6 MONTHS OLD!!! Can you even stand it? I can't. Here are some quick highlights from the week:

-I had a Reeses Peanut Butter Crunch bar for breakfast one morning. Yes, it was awesome.

-Mason and Jacob went for their 6-month well visit on Friday. I'm proud to announce they are gaining weight and growing healthely. (of course i know that's not a real word).
Mason - 16 lbs 2 0z , 25.5 inches
Jacob - 16 lbs 12 oz, 26 inches

-At the doc appt. we were told to work on the kids separate problems - for Jacob, we need to get him sleeping soundly in the crib and take away his night feed...for Mase, we need to get her to eat something other than cereal and the occasional pea.

-Jacob has been sleeping in his crib (due to a semi-ferberization. yes, it works. and no, i could never do it.) Thank you Harvey.

-Mason ate carrots today. Carrots that we made. Well, that Harvey made. Our pediatrician suggested maybe the reason Mason wouldn't eat anything was because jarred babyfood tastes like shit. She really said that. Even though we were giving the Gerber Organics she suggested we try making out own. She was like, "What do you eat? Give her a little bit of whatever you eat." I was sort of embarrassed to say I eat Reeses peanut butter cups for breakfast. Or Lean Cuisines for lunch.

-Aunt Jennie came to visit this weekend. We love Aunt Jennie. And not just because she does all of our laundry. She is also partially responsible for Mason eating her carrots as she told me to let Mason play with her food. Which I never in a gazillion years would have done.

-Both kids have been pooping like crazy. Which is way better than if they were constipated. Trust me. But they both pooped up their backs at some point this weekend. Which was pretty smelly and gross. But I guess what else can you expect when someone poops up their back.

-I got a much needed manicure and pedicure this weekend. Also, thanks fo Aunt Jennie for dragging my momafied ass out of the house. I think the last one I had was when the kiddos were 5 weeks old.

-Mason continues to roll over all the time. Except when she rolls onto her front, she won't roll back. And often lays on her stomach and cries until you turn her back over.

-Jacob stands like a ballerina when you hold him up and put his feet on the ground. He really points his toes and sticks out his chest. It's very funny. I'll try and get a picture of it soon.

-I tried on bridesmasid dresses that Jennie brought in. It was way worse than I had expected. I start the South Beach diet tomorrow.

So that's all for now folks.
