Can daddy drive please?

Okay, I've been holding off from posting this for a while but we here at Wonder Twin Power Activate understand the need to create a legacy for our kids no matter what the personal embarrassment is to oneself ... or to one's wife.

A few weeks ago we took the kids out in the car. Ann was driving.  As she backed out she tapped (very lightly) one of our neighbor's cars.  The next time we took the car out Mason said: "I don't want mommy to drive."   When we asked why she said "because I don't like it when she hits other cars."  The cute part os that we still feel the need to justify to Mason every time Ann drives.

Favorite color

My favorite color is green.  Always has been since I was a little kid.  In fact my folks will tell you it was somewhat of an obsession.  Since the twins were born I have tried my best not to impose my nuances on them (except perhaps for my love of cheese).  Imagine my surprise when Jacob started claiming that green is his favorite color and he appears even more OCD than I was - some days he wears two, yes two, green shirts together!  Why would genetics bother with something as pointless as a favorite color?  Or are favorite colors the key to unlocking the human genome?  P.S. I apologise to my friends in England for the mis-spelled title.

Castless

SHE GOT IT OFF THIS MORNING!!!!

Yay. All is well. Her thumb is in a little splint so I haven't really seen what it looks like yet. But as expected she seems to be fine. The cast/pin removal was at 7AM so she needed to be at the hospital at 6, thus leaving the house at 5:30. So daddy took her and I stayed here with Jacob. (who luckily didn't wake when she left). When Jacob did wake though he was a little bit upset that he didn't push the elevator button for Mason when she left. I reassured him it would be OK and I went on with my morning.

Thus I digress...

All is well. Will keep you updated but in the meantime we'll be out back playing with bubbles.

Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs

So I introduced Cocoa Puffs to the twins last week. It was really my own personal craving and I knew I couldn't get away with having some without sharing it with them. So...I gave them a little bit. Now even though Jacob despises chocolate, he LOVES Cocoa Puffs -- go figure. I didn't let him know that Cocoa is actually chocolate.

And when I poured it in Mason's bowl she said, "It' looks like poops!"

Yes, it does Mase, yes it does.

Hold that pee

Jacob and Mason have been doing very well with their potty training.  Both let us know when they need to go pee in the potty, although neither has been brave enough to try a poop since Jacob's sausage poop experience.  Today, while we were walking round to their friends' house, Jacob said "I need to go pee pee."  When Ann asked him to try to hold it he put his hands down the front of his pants!  How inappropriate?!

Happy Mama's Day to Me

Mason and Jacob made me breakfast in bed yesterday. So cute! And let me sleep in until about 8:15. Crazy, right! It was pretty funny as Jacob comes into the room and I hear him saying, "Mommy? Mommy? Mommy, are you OK?" Then he says, "Your pancakes are ready." So cute. They were delish. I couldn't have asked for a better day.

Aunt Lena & Uncle Mat's Baby Shower

This past Saturday was a baby shower for my brother Mathew and his wife. It was a family affair so Mason and Jacob were in full effect because as you know, they absolutely love parties. Although it rained an awesome time was had by all. Mason went a little nuts because all she wanted to do was open all the presents from the moment she arrived. But she used a little restraint and waited until the appropriate time to help Aunt Lena rip all the wrapping paper. Mason & Jacob's new little cousin due June 24...stay tuned.

Beer Garden 1st Birthday Pahty

Last weekend we went to our friend Luke's first birthday party. It was at a Beer Garden in Jersey City. What a fantastic idea for a first birthday. Kinda wish we had thought of that. Anyway, kids had a blast as usual. Just see below if you don't believe me.

Bergen County Zoo

A couple weekends ago we took the kids to the Bergen County Zoo. It's a little kids zoo. So it was pretty perfect. There were a whole bunch of animals and then a merry-go-round and a train.

We went with Mase and Jake's BFFs Burke and James.

A pretty good time was had by all. Although I just don't think Mason is that into zoos. She loves animals. Maybe just not live ones. Dunno. She was less than impressed to see monkeys and cows and Llamas and things. Also she claims she didn't have a good time because "all the animals kept trying to talk to me." And she was dead serious.

Jacob had a blast. But he didn't want to go on the merry-go-round or train. I think the highlight of his trip was the bag of potato chips I bought him when all the other kids went on the train. Here are some pics from the day.

Cheebo

This is Muno's sister, Cheebo. Mason is obsessed with Cheebo. She actually likes to stress the last syllable so you would say, Chee-BO! Actually, a majority of the time Mason will not answer to Mason but wishes to be called Cheebo. True story. In fact, at night now when we sing her "rock-a-bye baby" she makes us sing "rock-a-bye" Cheebo instead.

And Jacob also wants us to sing "Rock-a-bye Jacob, Monkey and Squirrely" (his stuffed animals in his crib, well some of them anyway.) Go figure.

My kids are nuts!!! Absolutely. Really and truly.

One more thing

On the way home from the Children's Museum in Paramus we stopped to get gas. I went into the station and came out with some car snacks. Some mini Reeses peanut butter cups for me. And I think I got Harvey an Almond Joy. Yes, some people still eat those candy bars. Totally under rated.
Anyway, I put the Reeses in the cup holder and was eating them little by little as I was driving. All of a sudden we hear Mason start to wine a little bit in the back. The is the conversation that ensued:

Mason: whine whine
Us: What's the matter Mason?
Mason: Oh, I think I'm gonna be a little sad.
Us: Why? What are you sad about.
Mason: I think I'm gonna be a little sad when Mommy eats all the chocolate.

This is completely and totally the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Little shit.

The Children's Museum - Paramus Style

A few weeks ago we went to The Children's Museum in Paramus, NJ. It was pretty fun. Well, for the kids anyway. There was all kinds of stuff there, rocket ships they could climb into, virtual reality TV where they could put themselves on green screens and they would look like they were on a farm or in a rock band. The rode fire trucks and horseys. But of everything that was there, Jacob's favorite thing was the computers they had. He's obsessed with electronics. Remind you of anyone?
