Mark this historic event
Today is bittersweet. My parents have been visiting and hanging out with the kids but will be flying back to U.K. tomorrow. Mason and Jacob said they'd give their pacifiers (dummies for the British) to Mum and Dad so that they could take them back to England and give them to cousin Sam. Afterall Sam's still a baby and doesn't have any pacifiers of his own (well, that's what we told Mason and Jacob). So just before bed the twins placed all their pacifiers in a box and sealed it for Sam. It wasn't easy getting them to go to bed. Both suddenly realized their folly but it was too late - Ann and I stood firm and after a couple of hours of crying, whining and manipulating, I'm proud to say they've both been asleep for more than an hour. Without pacifiers! Yaay for our big kids!
Calamity of the marble game
Jacob and my dad were playing with the kids' marble game when one of the supporting struts came off. Of course my dad would be able to put it back together without any problem. Fortunately I had the flip video camera ready to record this clip for America's Funniest Grandparents.

Snowy Day
Jacob and Mason enjoy playing in the snow (what kids don't?) and so they've invented a game to play on those few days it hasn't been snowing this winter. It's called snowy day and it goes like this: Jacob and Mason go into their bedroom and take all the clothes out of the laundry basket. They then throw them into the air - it's a snowy day! Sometimes they play this naked after a bath. There are some pics below (but not the naked ones).
Here comes the snow...
Jacob starts an avalanche!
... and Mason suffers the consequence. It's a very snowy day!

Number Two ... part two
After Ann's entry on Jacob's first potty poop I had to add my own spin. It was pretty big, especially for a little boy. Once the poop was safely in the toilet, we took a picture. Luckily for you we don't want to share the image but I managed to estimate the size from the pic to be approximately 9 x 3.5 cm. Assuming the poop to be cylindrical it would have dimensions 9 x 3.5 x 3.5 cm. Now poop is approximately 3/4 water (I did the research) and Jacob's floated so I put its density somewhere just less than 1, let's say 0.9 g cm-3. From the volume and density we can determine the mass as approx 3.5 oz. That's a fair amount for a little boy. It's a fair amount for anyone! Jake's only 30 lb in weight and I'm about 5 1/2 times heavier than him so the Harvey poop-equivalent would be 1.2 lb. Holy Shit!

Da Liebermans
Hooray! Hooray! Nana and Papa are here. And Jacob and Mason couldn't be happier. They arrived on Thursday night. And Mase and Jake waited up til 9:30 to see them! What a treat to stay up late and wait for Nana and Papa. Happy to report all is well and everyone is having the best time ever. They got tons of new clothes and toys and books and most importantly "nana papa snacks". Woo-hoo. They were especially excited about all of their Peppa Pig gear! So a big thanks to Nana and Papa, Auntie Mel and Uncle Chris and Lewis and Sam.
Also...this weekend a special appearance was made by Grandma and Grandpa. Ch ch check it out...

Sausage Poo
I can't believe it's taken me so long to write this post. But I'm proud to announce that at approximately 9:45 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2011 Jacob Galahad Lieberman made his first poop in the potty! And what a poop it was. Poor little fella had actually been constipated for the past few days...damn bananas.
Anyway, we had put the kids down pretty late as they had been having fun with both sets of their grandparents who were in town. I heard little Jacob calling me from his crib. So of course I ran in there and he says, "Mommy, I wanna go poo poo on the potty!"
"Really??" I thought. He never wants to go number 2 when I ask him (And I know he's going because he goes into his room and shuts the door when he poops. He even says sometimes if I walk in on him, "Go away mommy. I wanna finish my poopin'."
So I took him out of his crib and let him attend to business. Mason of course had to come out of her crib too because she said she had to go poo as well and claimed the she "felt it in her tummy" despite the fact that she had just pooped in her diaper.
So Mason was back and forth and back in her crib when I peeked into the bathroom to see how my little Jacob was doing. I actually saw him standing up looking sheepish and sad, his bottom lip about to quiver. As I looked more closely, I noticed an ENORMOUS man sized log of poop glistening in all its glory on my white tiles. Jacob was staring down at it. He mentioned that he thought it looked like a "sausage poo".
Aww...my innocent little Jacob. He had never gone poop before and his first one had to be one of a 30-year-old man. I'm guessing what happened was he hadn't completely finished and got up a little early and had a clinger-onner that was still attached. Awww.
I went in and told him how proud I was of him and how it was OK and he prob just got up a little early. He seemed fine and actually went straight back onto the potty to pee and finish up his poopin. I immediately called for Harvey. Cleanup in aisle 7.
So little Jacob did it!! Mommy, Daddy and Mason are super proud of the little guy. And the next day he put on his big boy underpants.

Musical tastes
Ann and I just came back from a gig at Maxwells. We saw British Sea Power (my choice) and it got me thinking about if our kids will like our taste in music. I grew up listening to the Beatles, Stones, Kinks and Faces. I still love all this music - is it because it's really good or is it because it reminds me of Sunday lunchtimes, sitting with my dad listening to Jimmy Saville on the radio? I'm not musically talented. Ann can sing but I can't sing or play anything. Mason likes to sing but she sounds like me. Jacob has a toy guitar but doesn't quite get it. I appreciate music (from both mathematical and melodic views) so I'm sure we'll encourage the kids to take up music. I have an idea that they'll form a band with their friends Burke and James. Burke on lead guitar and vocals, James on drums. Jacob on rhythm guitar and backing vocals and Mason on bass. Maybe they'll be called "Mason and her Minions".

She did it! She did it!
I'm proud to report, that at approximately 7:40 PM on Sunday, March 14 2011 Mason Ruby Lieberman went pee pee in the potty!!
She did it after her bath. She was running around her room, naked, tap dancing and ice skating as she usually does when she stopped in her tracks and said, "I have to peeeeeeeeeeeee."
"Run to your potty!" Harvey and I said.
She ran like the wind, sat on her little pink potty and the flood gates opened. I think she might have filled up the whole potty.
"I did it! I did it! Just like Jacob!" she said.
She also went in the potty again last night after her bath. What a big girl.
Mommy, Daddy and Jacob are all SUPER DUPER proud of her.

Lady Bug and Froggy Boots!!
Ka, Peeli and Mimo
One of my favorite things lately is watching Mason play with her "Little People". She'll take one and say, "Mommy...what's this little boys name?" And I'll say, "I don't know Mason, what is that little boy's name?" She's think for half a second and then say, "His name is Ka." So then I'll say hello to Ka. Then it will continue and she grabs another one..."What's this little girls name?" They are always different but creative no doubt. As I said up top, some of my other personal favorites were Peeli and Mimo.

They Got In!!! They Got In!!
So my mother-in-law reminded me this morning that I hadn't shared the good news with everyone...
I'm proud to announce that Mason and Jacob got into Pre-School!!!! Yay! Woo-hoo. Hip hip Hooray! My babies got in. Well, to the afternoon program. So they will be going Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12-3. Oh yeah, and it's the pre-school at the synagogue -- which we have affectionately named "Jewish School".
They are psyched. Harvey and I are psyched. Not sure what will happen with their naps...but it's over 6 months away so maybe they'll have given them up by then. At least Mason. Poor Jacob needs all the sleep he can get.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

(taken 5 minutes ago...so 12:30, march 1, 2011)
I was debating weather to post this pic since I have no make up on (as opposed to the usual full face of make-up I wear) and my teeth look a little big (they've always been that way) and I have kind of dark circles under my eyes (but so does Mason and she's 2 1/2) but then I figured what the fuck. Who cares. This is me. This is how I look. I did shower because I went to yoga this morning so I don't look completely unkept...but this is me...all 37 years of me.
Harvey prepped the kids really well so when I went in to get them out of their cribs this morning they shouted "happy birthday mommy" at me. Yes, it was adorable. Then I noticed Mason was completely NAKED!! Mason!!!! She's a little stinker. She told me her diaper was heavy and she didn't wish to have it on any more. Oy.
Then later this morning Jacob asked me if I was going to get a Moose A. Moose cake. Ha! Mase and Jake were looking through some pictures yesterday and came across one of the Moose A. Moose cake they had for their 1st birthday. Of course they don't really remember it...but I think they want another one this year.
So yeah...so far so good. It's been an awesome day so far. It's sunny and chilly in Hoboken. My day has consisted of Mason and Jacob, yoga, and a skim toasted almond latte. Later I foresee a massage, more Mason and Jacob and dinner with Harvey at Pearl Oyster Bar. Not so bad...right?
Thanks to Mason and Jacob for being the best babies ever. And to Harvey for being you. And to my family near and far and all my friends for your birthday wishes.
Here's to 2011!
