Little People Invasion

This morning all of the Little People and the Scientists (I'll explain later) invaded my kitchen. They came out of nowhere. It was nuts.

Little People Bath

Jake and Mase are getting quite a collection of Little People.  This morning they all took a bath together in the laundry basket (ie the bath).  Jacob wanted to keep them in until prune fingers set in but Mason convinced him to take them out and start lining them up on the rocking chair footrest.  Ahh, the innocence of youth.

Having fun in the bath

and here we have Doctor Duck, Grandma Sherry, Nina, Little Fella, Jewish Boy, Cow and Pop (pop's relevance explained in a further post)

The marble toy is dead. Long live the marble toy!

It was only a matter of time.  The magnificent marble toy was pulled down this morning by over-enthusiastic Jacob and Mason.

Well, when one toy goes down another's built in its place.  Mase and Jake helped me rebuild the marble toy, bigger and better than ever!  I have to admit that Frank Gehry would be proud of the proportions and deliberate use of open space.  This new construction, however, is more delicate than the last so we're likely to be building an even better one soon!

Did something just fall out of my butt?

They love to be naked.  Don't we all?  But they can get away with it.  Getting Jacob and Mason ready for bed is turning into an ordeal.  After their bath we take them back into their room wrapped in towels.  Mason and Jacob don't keep the towels on for long and quickly throw them to the ground for some naked time.  Last night they chased each other around the room, "ice skating and tap dancing" as Mason explained to us, when all of a sudden Jacob farted.  This isn't an unusual occurrence - Jacob tends to fart a lot - but this time he looked behind himself as if to ask "Did something just fall out of my butt?"  Mason looked too.  Fortunately for mommy and daddy nothing had come out.

not about the twins

I thought I'd share the fact that I'm drinking the last of my bottle of Middleton whiskey tonight.  This is a bottle I picked up in Heathrow Duty Free in 2003 and it's lasted 7 1/2 years!  Talk about self control!!!  Anyway, for those who love their whiskey, especially Irish, this is about as smooth as you can get.  Sorry this wasn't about the kids - the next one will be.

Twin Love

The following was a real conversation that took place yesterday around 3:30 in the afternoon. Jacob was a little constipated that afternoon but finally pooped. But he wasn't happy about it and not in the best of moods. I was in his and Mason's room changing his diaper on the futon when Mason walks in.

Mase: Jacob? You OK?
Jake: My butt hurt Mason. My butt hurt.

"I Love My Handsome Brother"

Thought I'd put the pics of the cutest twins in the universe up front for a change. These were taken a couple mornings ago when they wouldn't put their clothes on. Little nutballs. They absolutely LOVE running around naked. Still. Which I don't really mind as long as they don't pee anywhere. But I also don't want them to get cold so it can't be for too long. Anyway, they were running around, having the best time ever. EVER!!! When Mason would tackle Jacob to the ground with a falling down hug and yell, "I love my handsome brother!" Can you stand it? True story. She says it all the time.

These kids keeps amazing me every day. Their vocabulary is just outta control. Mason, the other morning said, "The noise is horrible!" (in reference to a youtube video harvey was showing me...i was trying to watch it...kind of ignoring mason for two seconds...she couldn't stand it and started shouting that the noise was horrible.) How did she know that word? She also keeps saying, "No way." As in,
Me: Mason, come over here and get your diaper on.
Mason: No way.

And Jacob noticed there were no Kix on top of the fridge yesterday afternoon. And I was amazed because the Kix had just gone out that morning so I threw away the box. But Jacob knows exactly what snacks and cereals lay atop that fridge. Oh yes. Nothing gets by him. He also knows how to work the computer for a Skype call. Seriously. He knows how to use the track pad on the Mac, and is slowly learning what certain buttons do when you click on them.

I love my amazing babies. Oh sorry, not babies. Big boy and Big girl.

Pee Pee In the Potty Deux

Jacob continues to go pee pee in the potty. He doesn't actually tell me when he has to go, he still goes in his diaper. But if his diaper is off and I ask him if he needs to use the facility, he is quite happy to run to his little green pottie and pee. He's so good.

We haven't really started potty training yet. I think when you commit you really need to commit and I'm not ready yet. But a slow introduction I figured couldn't hurt. Mason still has yet to go, but "i tried and nothing came out" daily. We even bought her a little pink potty as she requested.

It'll happen.

The funniest thing is every time after Jacob goes I always get really excited and congratulate him, call him a big boy and give him a high 5. Well Mason honestly sounds as equally as excited as I am. It's so funny to hear her say, "Yay Jacob!!!" and clap.

So cute. So supportive. But that's what sister's are for, no?

Talent Show

So this happened last week. So cute.

There is a Yo Gabba Gabba episode where all of the characters figure out their talent and display it in a "talent show". They sing a song that asks, "What's your talent, what's your skill?" Anyway, Brobee is sad because he doesn't think he has a talent. But Plex explains, "Brobee everyone has a talent, you just need to figure out what it is." I'm actually embarrassed to say I don't remember what Brobee figures out his talent is. I'll have to pay better attention next time. Totally irrelevant, so don't worry.

After watching this episode Mason started wining and whimpering as I was putting her down from her nap and squeals, "Mommy...I don't think I have a talent either!". I explained to her she has lots of talents -- her dancing, her singing, her joke telling.

Now when you ask her what her talent is, she'll usually respond with, "My dancing." Jacob says, "My guitar."

Who knew?

Art Projects

Meet Hoboken's up and coming artistes...Mason Ruby and Jacob Galahad. They have been doing most of their creating in Hoboken's finest art school, The United Synagogue of Hoboken aka Jewish School.

Showing off their gallery- water color paintings and snow flakes.

They complement our hallway in such a complimentary way.

Our Menorahs that wouldn't stay up. (because of the sheer weight)

Our Marble Machine

Uncle Mat and Aunt Lena got the twins this crazy marble tube contraption thingy for Hanukkah. And honestly, I don't know who was more excited about it, the twins or Harvey. I'm so glad he was psyched about it because I would have no clue. Jacob would have to teach me. Anyway...Harvey built the tallest structure he could while the kids were napping and when they woke, they came out to find this awesome thing that daddy built. Awww. They went nuts. Jacob started hoarding all the marbles (which we only let them use 3). But then they started to share. They love it. Clearly.

Fro

I'm so happy that little Jacob has my hair. Poor little fella.

Year In Review

OH-WHAT-A-YEAR...2010...Lots of stuff going on. Talking and singing. Oh yeah, and lots of talking. And singing. The eensy weensy spider. In english AND Hebrew. Twinkle twinkle. Old Susana...the list goes on. Lots of reading books -- Don’t Let the Pigeon Ride the Bus. And the Pokey Little Puppy are favorites. And even most recently "Put Me In The Zoo" and "Baby Animals." Aww...poor little fella. We got rid of our high chairs and now eat at our table. We took out our bath seats. We took showers. We went to Cape Cod, to England and to Sesame Place in Pennsylvania. And we go to Boston like once a month. We know our Abc’s and can count to 10. Maybe even 20. We know our colors and shapes. Green and Purple are our faves. We ate fruit strips and Mum Mums. And salty Lox. And daddy toast and daddy cheese. We turned into excellent climbers. And bouncers. We sit on the pottie. We dream of happy things like Cookie and Big bird and Elmo. We went to Romparoo, Little Gym and Jewish class. We started doing art projects. We still love Yo Gabba Gabba and Jacks. Peppa Pig and Laurie Berkner. We know our full names, how old we are, our mommy and daddy’s name and that we live in Hoboken, New Jersey. We bounced on Ernie’s bed and mommy and daddy’s bed all the time. Sometime with hats. We still nap, although it’s starting to dwindle. We only go to sleep if you sing us rock baby. One of us is obsessed with doors. And cabinets. One of us likes spinning around and getting all dizzy. We still haven't had our hair cuts. Fros. Hairbows. And "Mommy has a little poop." How can you not love us? It was a crazy year...we’ve grown so much. And continue to act nuts every single day. Here’s to an awesome year and an awesomer 2011.
