Our Happy Halloweenies

As my friend Maria brought to my attention this afternoon this is the first year Harv and I have not dressed up. No good and evil angels or Slash and Axel...sorry. I guess we figured since we couldn't attend our annual Halloween party this year we wouldn't dress up. Eh...there are many more years. We did, however, take the opportunity to dress up our little Munchkins. And what better 1st Halloween costumes than Thing 1 and Thing 2. Originally we were thinking "Donald Trump" for Jake and "Bob Marley" for Mase but then decided to do something more twin like. Enjoy the pics -- and Happy Halloween! Bhua ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. (evil laugh)

Mase in yo face how low can you go.

Jake the snake.

We know we're cute.

Wide shot of cuteness.

Ha ha. I just pooped my pants.

Gratuitous Cute Twin Pics

Kids went to the doc yesterday for a 3 month well visit and to get some shots. Yikes.
You'll be glad to know they are growing splendidly.

Hell yeah, we're cute.

Jacob loves his sister very much.

Chillin' in the Boppy - morning time.

We are the cutest twins in Hoboken. Really.

Soft & Fuzzy

Is it weird that I like to rub my lips and that little patch of skin that's between my lips and my nose on my babies heads? Their heads are so soft and fuzzy. And they smell so good. And it feels really good on your face. Really. You should try it some time. But not on my babies. Family members only I'm afraid. I usually do this when I am feeding them and it is burping time. After they burps I lower them down a little more and have a little snuggle with the top of their heads. Awwww...so cute and soft.

Anyway, these are the things I think about at 3:00 AM.

Twin Love

I want to start this post by saying yesterday was a horrible day. It was cold and miserable outside, and not too much different inside Apt. 2D. Jacob cried pretty much the entire day and I just could not put him down. He took "mama's boy" to a whole new level. Mason was fine but was a bit of a crab apple as well at some points. Harvey and I didn't even have dinner last night because things were so crazy and we were both exhausted. Ill chalk it up to the bad weather.

Today, so far so good. But it is still early. And I also had a cup of regular coffee (as opposed to my regular decaf) so I'm totally buzzing. In a good way.

One of the few bright moments of yesterday was after an afternoon feeding I put the twins together in one of the Boppy pillows. They loved each other in a way I've never seen before. This video is definite black mail material for their teen years when they hate Harvey and I and want to run away from home.

Not to sound cliche (but I will for a brief moment) These are the moments that make it all worth it. How can you not love these guys.

Cutest Lil' Pats Fans

Here are the cutest lil' Pats fans ever. That's right, you saw them here first. It was another victory this weekend for the Tom-Bradyless Pats - let's all jump for joy. Even if it was against the Steven-Jacksonless Rams.

*Little shout out to Big Jonny G for giving them these fine outfits.

Weekend went well. Aunt Marnie and Aunt Stacey (some of my best friends from college) were in for a visit which was nice. It's weird that we are all moms now. When did we all become responsible adults? When did it all of a sudden become OK for us to be parents and raise children? I guess the answer is I have no idea. Not sure I ever will. It's fun though. Some days... :) . Harvey asked me the other day, "Do you remember what it was like before we had kids?" My response was simple - "Yes, Harv. I remember. And it was glorious!" Ha ha ha. I love my kids. Really, I do. It's just a huge change. Which is cool. I'm getting more used to it every day. I think.

12 Weeks Old - Hip Hip Hooray!!!

Today is the twins 12 week old birthday. Can you even stand it? I can't. Where did the time go? I mean, it does sort of feel like we've had them way longer than 12 weeks. Crazy. They've definitely grown. As have Harv and I. Jeeez...that sounds like something an adult would say.
Some notable accomplishments:

-They've recently realized they have hands - they put them in their mouths like crazy. Especially Mason. I occasionally catch her having a fist sandwich.

-They've been blowing spit bubbles. Kind of funny in that I'm a mom of twins kind of way.

-They both smile. Lots. I try and capture it on camera but they are quick little buggers.

-They've been sleeping better at night. I don't want to jinx anything, but we have gotten some 5 and even 6 hours stretches btwn feedings.

-Jacob likes the rainforest bouncey seat. Just noticed it today. So funny.

-They both hold their heads up like champs. Strong neck muscles. You know what that means -- they will be good head butters.

-They both love my hair. And try to grab it. Reminds me of when Harv and I first started dating.

Ok - gots to run. Want to go for a walk and don't want to miss our window. Here is a video I took about an hour ago. They also LOVE their Winnie the Pooh mobile.

Multitasking

OK, so this morning I peed in the shower. Gross. I know it's sick, but what's a mother of twins supposed to do? I need to consolidate my actions. My time is precious. Plus I really needed to go. Here is another example of multitasking. Both kids were crying yesterday afternoon so I scooped them up and decided to sing "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago to lull them to sleep. Harvey came home from work and caught me in the act.

Boston et al

Here are some pics from the Boston trip. And some from Aunt Lena's stay towards the end of last week.

Poop

Jake pooped on his onesie this morning.
I think he thought it was pretty hilarious. Sick little boy.

Mason did not poop on her onesie this morning.
That's because she is a lady. Pretty little girl.

The Boston Hot 7

Ok - so it's been nearly a week since my last post. Hey, I'm not happy about it either. But these little ones take up a lot of time yo. My free time is lessening every day.

But we were also in Boston for the past 5 days. Road trip! Road trip! But anyway, here I am. Wanted to tell you all about our fun filled weekend.

Road trip back and forth was pretty excellent. We left late Thursday night. Fed the little ones at 8:00 and then put them in their car seats and were off. They actually slept the whole time. Of course we heard the occasional peep every once in a while which scared the bajeezers out of me. But they were out for the count for the whole trip. Same thing coming back to Hoboken. Pretty amazing. I also found it amazing how much crap of theirs we had to take up. Our whole trunk was full up and then some -- and Harv and I hadn't even packed our own stuff. And on top of it, my mom bought a whole load of stuff so we wouldn't have to bring it. I can imagine it only gets worse. Finally, one more note about the trip. When we were driving up along the Merritt something hit our windshield, I'd say around New Canaan. It was really scary. And loud. And made a mark. I still don't know what it was. I thought it might have been a bat or something. Harvey thinks I'm nuts.

Top 7 memorable moments from our weekend in Boston at Grandma & Grandpas (in no particular order)

1) Blaming Mason
We took Mason wedding dress shopping. Yes, as most of you probably know, my sister Jennie is getting married next year. We wanted to get things started and go looking for gowns for the big day. We thought it only appropriate that Mason come as we were having a girls day out. She was very good. Slept almost the whole time. My mom even propped her up against some wedding dresses and took pictures (which i'll show you later). She was also used to blame our own flatulence on. That's right. At one store, someone really let one go - now I'm not saying if it was me, Sherry or Jennie - but lets just say little Mason took the fall. Good girl.

2) Bag O Mail
Harvey and I opened up our ginormous bag of mail that had been piling up over the past few weeks. Yes, we took the bag of mail with us. And we manged to go through it Monday morning. Crazy what gets you excited these days.

3) Baby Brain
Driving up and back we listened to baby songs. We didn't want to take any chances, so we brought the kids CDs. It was Beetles & Led Zepplin lullabies. Along with our Baby Zen CD and Soothing Songs (a free Graco CD we somehow acquired.) 8 hours of it. Could be worse...could be Barney I guess. I did have visions of myself singing "the hokey pokey" for hours on end in the future. Oy. I just know I'm gonna be one of those parents. Not sure how it can be avoided. Gots to entertain the little boogers somehow.

4) Two Martini Girl
Harvey and I went out to dinner on Saturday night while Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Rhonda and GG babysat. Went to Blue Ginger - the Ming Tsai restaurant in Wellesley. It was delish. We split the shitake / leek spring rolls. I got the lobster and Harv got the flank steak for our main course and split some delicious macadamia nut / caramel tart for dessert. I also had a Cosmo. But it wasn't any old Cosmo-- it was made with ginger cognac and blueberry vodka and I had 2 of them. I also passed out at 10:30 in the car on our way home. Out cold. Head cocked back, snoring and all. I used to make fun of two martini girls. Now I have become one.

5) Red Sox go out in Game 7
This is not really a high light, but rather a low light. Putting this in the blog to document it. It was sad. But let's be honest, they had no business even being in that game. They should have lost game 5. Mase and Jake were kind of upset but think the Sox have a good chance of taking it next year. Plus they will be older and be able to enjoy the World Series way more.

6) #34
This has nothing to do with the children but rather grandma. It was my sister's 33rd birthday yesterday. We celebrated on Friday night. My mom brought out a Carvel ice cream cake with 2 candles that say "34". But Jennie was only 33. It was kind of hilarious. Maybe you had to be there. You'll just have to trust me on this one.

7) Pats 41 Broncos 7
Yes, Harv and I were in attendance for Monday night football. Once again, my parents babysat. It was a great game to be at. Had a little tale gate. Did a couple Jagerbombs - which is a pre-game tradition. Haven't done a Jaegerbomb since before I was pregnant, and let me tell you, it was glorious! The Pats put the hurt on the Broncos and the Bud Light put the hurt on me. Harv and I got back to my parents a little after 1:00 AM. I came in and my mom was feeding both babies in the living room. Mommy (me) was a little drunky. Not sure exactly what happened but I remember thanking my mom, talking to my babies and telling them how gorgeous they were and then running to the bathroom for a little puke. Felt way better after. It was nothing like the old days, but I definitely can't handle alcohol like I used to. I think I had 1 beer too many in the 4th quarter. But it was a rare occasion I get to be an irresponsible mommy. Because my mom was there to look after the kiddos. Along with Harvey. And my dad. So I was not worried.

Anyway - those are the highlights from the weekend. A great time was had by all. I want to give a shout out to all the visitors - Aunt Jennie & Uncle Andy, Aunt Lena & Uncle Mat, Great Aunt Rhonda and Great Grandma (GG) Harriet, Great Uncle Gerald and cousin Julia, Captain Donna and her son Emmet and Jon & Beth.

A special shout out to Grandma Sherry and Grandpa Ira for watching and spoiling their grandkids. Thanks to Jacob being held every second for the past 5 days now I can't put him down. I think I actually heard him ask for Grandpa to sing him "Swanie" last night when he was in the middle of his screaming tirade.

That's all for now. We left the camera in the car when unpacking yesterday -- so I'll have to post some pics from the weekend later. There are some totally cute ones. Of course! Holla at you later.

Cute Alert! Cute Alert! Proceed with Caution.

Aunt Lena came to visit and help out today. And we had, like, the best time ever. We had so much fun that they day literally flew by. Really weird. We gabbed about crying babies, how Similac Organic formula has a high sugar content, stinky baby farts, magic baby holds, the weirdness of guys with babies, nakedness vs. no nakedness, Jon & Kate, and the benefits of living outside of the city but not too too far outside the city. We also took the kids out on the town and even into the Pita Grill for a bite. And they slept. And didn't peep. The other totally weird thing about today...Jacob was actually pretty calm and didn't have a fit until 7:30. Did you hear me? Jacob didn't cry his head off today until 7:30. In the PM. It was kind of freaking me out. So we'll see how the night goes. I don't know what Lena did with them today but it was magic for the night time. Pure magic!

Here are some pics we took during the day today, along with a couple videos. They really are the some of the cutest pics to date. I have to credit Lena - as she was the one that dressed them when we went out today and also the one to put them in the same Boppy.

A weekend of firsts

It was a weekend of firsts for the twins...oh yes. Not like, "oh they said their first word" or "the first time they had a drink". Duh. They are too young for either of those. But a few notable firsts that occurred on Sunday--

The Twins First Trip to a Bar
Now for those of you who know Harv and I, you know that Sundays BC (Before Children) are/were sacred. They were a day to relax, chill out, drink beer, eat wings and watch football. American football. Most Sundays you could find us at our favorite Hoboken bar, McSwiggens. We'd arrive early and leave late. Since we've had the kids-- not so much. Haven't had the time to go to the bar. Haven't been able to watch my beloved Patriots since New York cable only show the Jets and Giants. I've been reduced to feeding babies while listening to the Pats games on my Sirius satellite radio. But this Sunday was different.

We took the kids to the bar. I have to admit, we were pretty nervous. Would the stroller fit? Would Jacob scream like a maniac? Would we be those annoying people in the bar with kids who you feel like you can't really swear around or talk loud in front of?

The trip was successful. We sat outside and still had a view of the big screen TVs. I drank a bloody mary. Harv had a few beers. Friends came out to meet us and we actually socialized like normal adults. It was definitely fun and the kids were great -- but still not the same as going to McSwiggens BC. But then again, nothing much is anymore. Still good to know that we can take them out into public places. Like bars. Even if they can't drink, it's still pretty cool.

They Saw their First Chinese Person*
My friend Winnie came in from the city to see the kids. Winnie is Chinese. And she is proud to be the first Chinese person the kids have seen up close and personal. I think they liked her. They were actually really good in her presence. Yes, Jacob included. Growing up on the mean streets of Hoboken, it's very monochromatic. Not too much diversity. So it was good for them. For sure.

They Saw the Patriots Play one of the Worst Games EVER
No joke. It was totally embarrassing. If the Patriots don't get a new QB it's going to be a very long season. The best part of the day was I dressed them in the morning in their Patriots onesies. Mason was crying like a complete nutbag. Harvey says, "Hmmm...maybe she's a JETS fan and the onesie is burning her." I don't think she's a JETS fan. Just sad about Tommy being out for the season. Which I understand. I mean, what girl isn't.

* meant to be funny. like funny ha ha.

Live from the Rain Forest Cafe

Greetings people.
The twins are 9 weeks old today! Can you even stand it? Where does the time go. Now we've only had them for 9 weeks, but it kind of seems like years. Crazytown.

Below are some Friday photos. Enjoy. And have a fantastic weekend. I know we will.

Mason Ruby has the best Buddah belly and chipmunk cheeks.

Jacob Galahad is the master of disaster. And he knows it.

Pudgy legs! Pudgey legs!

"Don't worry Mason, I'll save you from the evil monkey."
